Trackability is the ability to narrow down search to a specific object or person.[1]

The term trackability refers to the identification of a specific problem and the ability to track its movements through a system. This ownership of problem solving and specification is the key distinction between trackability and traceability.

Trace information refers to information that leads to source, whereas track information is information about the process through which the item has journeyed.

In manufacturing, where the two terms can get confused, the ability to trace an item to its origin is not the same as the ability to track an issue to any point in the manufacturing process or supply chain.
