Option 1
[edit]- Article title: The Astonishing Color of After
- Article Evaluation
- - Article is on a YA novel published in 2018, that was given an honor for the Asian/Pacific American Award for literature. It was also named as a significant piece of YA literature by TIME, New York Times, and more.
- - Noted as "Start Class"
- - Contains a robust section on its critical reception and received honors.
- - Compared to higher-classed articles, this article lacks a section for "Plot", "Background" and "Writing". An additional section could be added on its significance for the AAPI community in relation to critical pedagogy.
- - Includes an image of the cover page
- - Within the scope of children's literature and women's writers WikiProject.

Option 2 (not an article on Wikipedia)
[edit]- Article title: Good Enough
- - YA novel published by Paula Yoo
- Article Evaluation
- - This YA novel received an honor by the Asian Pacific American Award for literature for the 2008-2009 year, but lacks an article on Wikipedia
- - On a personal level, I remember reading this novel as a child and resonating strongly with the message- I see value to creating a new article to fill a need for more representation for Asian American stories (as the novel was based on the author's own experience).

Option 3
[edit]- Article title: Hawaiian literature
- Article Evaluation
- - Rated stub-class, but of mid-importance in projects relating to Literature, Hawaii, and Books
- - Lots of talk surrounding classifying the ethnic origin of the article's listed authors: whether or not they are ethnically Hawaiian, from Hawaii but not Hawaiian, and of part-Hawaiian ancestry. I can see avenues to create subcategories and provide nuance to the preexisting list
- - There is hardly any writing on Hawaiian literature's history in relation to American colonialism (which stamped out Hawaiian-language oral tradition)
- - My only reservation would be contributing to this article as a non-Hawaiian, but as someone with cultural background having grown up in Hawaiian. I would be sure to find Hawaiian-authored sources and be critical about my own lack of lived experience as Hawaiian throughout

Option 4
[edit]- Article title: Hong Gildong jeon
- Article Evaluation
- - Rated start-class; contains some detailed information but lacking in robustness and historical significance
- - This character has been reproduced and used as inspiration in South Korean media, so there is a section on "Adaptations", which is notably much longer than "Literary context, themes and history"
- - Historical background and reproduction on its origins pre-modern age would be helpful to add

Option 5
[edit]- Article title: Cultural Literacy
- Article Evaluation
- - Ranked as Start-class
- - There seems to be a lot of discourse on clarifying what the "Dominant culture" entails, as well as pertinent literature to supplement it
- - Need for greater "Examples" section
- - The "Research and questions" section is from a single paper but provide no elaboration on answers from other scholars
