User:Alzarian16/BLP-PROD stats

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A project I did in July 2010 in an attempt to gain specific statistics about the BLP PROD for the BLP request for comment phase 3.

Details

[edit]

At 02:00 UK time on July 14, 2010, I watchlisted 30 articles in Category:BLP articles proposed for deletion. I didn't edit the articles, and I didn't inform anyone that I'd done this as both of these would have made the sample unrepresentative.

Articles deleted by BLP PROD

[edit]

Articles which survived

[edit]

Accurate at time of writing. May change in the future as AfDs come into play.

Articles deleted by another method

[edit]

Weaknesses in procedure

[edit]
  • Small sample
  • Sample taken during RFC when there's more attention on the category
  • Sample taken in summer, when unreferenced BLP numbers generally increase

Some analysis

[edit]

There are various ways of analysing the results, and I'm sure others will have different views (if anyone wants to leave their interpretation on the talk page, you're welcome to). However, I've decided to summarise some stuff that I noticed here:

  • Fifteen articles (50%) were deleted by BLP-PROD. Three (10%) were deleted under CSD; two (6.7%) was deleted at AfD. At present ten (33.3%) still exist.
  • Only two PRODs were removed as inaccurate
  • Seven users deleted expired BLP-PRODs; the same number added sources.
  • The admin with the joint highest number of deletions, Fences and windows (talk · contribs), also had the joint highest number of source additions.
  • Only one article was sourced by its creator. Another was sourced by a sock of its now-blocked creator; eight were sourced by other users.
