Angin Kencang is the debut solo album by Malaysian musician and Hujan's frontman Noh Salleh.[1] It was first released as an EP on 7 July 2014 via Noh Phrofile Enterprise and distributed by Sony Music Malaysia [ms].[2] Angin Kencang expanded into a full-length album; Noh Phrofile Enterprise re-released Angin Kencang on 4 August 2017[3] with the help of Warner Music Malaysia [ms] acting as the distributor.[4][5]

Background[edit]

Noh, a friend and an avid fan of the Indonesian indie rock band Sore, reached out to the band to help him produce the album.[7] As a result of Sore's production, the album shows influences of retro-styled French Pop and new-age jazz,[8] which was how Noh wanted his music to sound.[9]

Releases[edit]

Angin Kencang was released digitally on 7 July 2014 and was officially launched on 28 October 2014 at White Box, Publika in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.[10]

Reception[edit]

Upon release, Angin Kencang became a cult EP amongst fans.[8][11] The EP was also well received by critics.[11]

Chart perfomances[edit]

In 2022, Angin Kencang peaked at number 73 on the iTunes Charts in Singapore and number 25 on the Apple Music Chart in Malaysia.[12] The title track peaked at number 24 in Indonesia's Weekly Top Songs Chart on Spotify, while also peaking at number 119 on Malaysia's Weekly Top Songs Chart on Spotify.[13] The fourth track of the album, "Bunga Di Telinga," peaked at number 176 in Malaysia's Weekly Top Songs Chart on Spotify.[13]
