Cuban-American soprano Aliana de la Guardia always strives for strong, natural and moving performances with emotional versatility. As an avid performer of contemporary classical music she has presented and premiered many works by local composers, as well as various performances with the Ludovico Ensemble. Her credits include the roles of Estelle in Andy Vores’ No Exit (2008), The Dog in Rudolf Rojahn’s Heart of a Dog (2007) with Guerilla Opera, Female Chorus in Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia (2007), Helena in A Midsummer Night’s Dream (2006), Meretaten in Phillip Glass' Akhnaten (2005), and Maria Luisa, Countess de Paredes in With Blood and with Ink (2004), as well as covering the role of Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus (2006) at The Boston Conservatory, Evil Stepmother in Cinderella (2002), and Maude Dunlop in The Music Man (2002) with The Summertime Players, and Frasquita in Bizet's Carmen (2002) with Operesque Classical Concerts. Professional Chorus: Madama Butterfly with the Boston Lyric Opera (2006) and Lucia di Lammermoor with Granite State Opera (2007). Soloist: Boston premiere of Ronald Perrera's “Earth Songs” with the New England Philharmonic (2003) and in Arron Copland's “In the Beginning…”with the MIT chamber chorus (2004). Currents projects include the 2008-2009 Season of Guerilla Opera and Ludovico Ensemble.
