Chieu Cao (born December 24, 1976) is the Co-founder of Perkbox[1] and motivational speaker.
Early life and education[edit]
Cao was born in Vietnam to Chinese parents. He moved to the United States when he was two years old and grew up in Houston, Texas. He studied Business Administration, Marketing and International Business at Boston University before moving to the United Kingdom in 1999.[2]
Career[edit]
Cao began his career at Amazon where he worked for three years as an Online Advertising Manager. He then moved to Yahoo where he worked for another four years before moving to Microsoft where he stayed for an additional four. This is where he met Saurav Chopra, with whom he would later found Perkbox.
Perkbox is an employee engagement platform launched in 2015.[3] To date, it has secured investment from high-profile figures in London’s start-up community, notably Alex Chesterman of property website Zoopla and Sherry Coutu, a business angel investor. Perkbox was recognised as second in LinkedIn’s list of Best Startups to Work for 2017[4], selected as a Sunday Times 100 Best Small Companies To Work For 2017[5] and was also included in the Startups 100 list. Perkbox is a mission led business. It aim is to ‘build a better society one relationship at a time’ starting from the workplace. As such, in 2017 Chieu began hosting events and participating in talks with the aim of creating a movement. He has since been named Global Employee Engagement Influencer of the year, 2018 by Engagement 101.[7]
