Alan Knape (born 29 September 1984) is a Liberal Democrat councillor and an Accountant.


Early life and education[edit]

Alan Knape is the son of Richard Knape and the late Angie Knape (née Luckhurst). He attended Huxlow School in Irthlingborough.

Knape graduated from the University of Northampton with a BA in Business Entrepreneurship, and then went on the qualify first as an accounting technician and then an accountant.

Career[edit]

Knape has worked in finance at various companies, mainly in Northamptonshire, starting as a Financial Coordinator in 2008 and working his way up to Financial Controller.

Electoral politics[edit]

Knape joined the Liberal Democrats in 2015, after their near wipeout at the General Election that year. He served on the Executive Committee of the Daventry branch, for several years as Treasurer and also a brief stint as Chair. Knape has also served as electoral agent for the Daventry Liberal Democrats both at General Elections and local elections since 2017.

He has stood for election once for Northamptonshire County Council, twice for Daventry District Council and once for West Northamptonshire Council. He has never won an election at this level but has increased his vote share each time he has stood.

Knape has served as a Councillor on Daventry Town Council since 2016 and has been re-elected twice since.
