Roz Nixon is the founder and Executive Producer of Roz Nixon Entertainment, which is a multi-faceted organization that produces events, music festivals, concerts, and promotional events. Nixon Entertainment is also a booking and casting agency for film and television. The Nixon Entertainment, television and film division books up coming artists and seasoned performers. She is a playwright, producer of events, journalist, and entrepreneur. In 2001 Roz Nixon founded Great Women In Music. Which is a month long festival that celebrates women in Jazz, Blues, and Soul. As a playwriter she has created plays that celebrate the history of jazz legends; such as Louie Armstrong and Billy Holiday. She has produced events that have premiered in New York, Miami, Philadelphia, Las Vegas, and Istanbul.[1] She is an interviewer and contributing columnist for newspapers, Caribbean Life since 2008, and for Rolling Out since 2010. She is a radio and television show host, and a panelists for music conferences and forums. She is a music historian.

Early Life[edit]

Roz grew up around good music and musicians, in the company of many legendary well-known R&B singers and musicians. She is the niece of legendary soul singer Freddie Scott. Growing up she was able to meet many artists that shared their knowledge about music, and the business at family gatherings. She learned first hand from creative artists such as Jerry Butler, Hugh Masekela, Isley Brothers, and Wilson Picket.

Career[edit]

Roz Nixon is the founder and executive producer of Great Women in Music in 2001. It is a month long festival celebrating women in jazz, blues, and soul. Roz Nixon Entertainment as booking and casting agent for films; such as Unfaithful, The Devil Wears Prada, Music and Lyrics. The Entertainment agency has cast for Heineken, Verizon and NY Knicks commercials.


2015 - "SS Nirvana: A Story of Love & Jazz on the High Seas." A dinner theater musical that was presented at Minton's Playhouse, and Birdland in New York City. [2] A musical fantasy about a "Madame Royale's supper club on a cruise ship that spotlights present and legendary Jazz artists.


2005 - JVC JAZZ FESTIVAL, "Dedicated To Louis Armstrong," a biographical musical story dedicated to the life of Louis Armstrong using narration, song, and dance that chronicles his life. Performed at the Blue Note.[3]

2000 Bell Atlantic Jazz Festival Roz Nixon presented her work “To Louis Armstrong,” which she wrote and produced. As part of the Bell Atlantic Jazz Fest it was performed in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia. In New York City it was performed at the Knitting Factory.[4][5] Melba Joyce on vocals who performed with Louis Armstrong.
