Ravindra Pratap Singh, widely known as R.P. Singh, is a prominent Indian playwright, poet, essayist, and critic who adeptly expresses himself in both English and Hindi. Born on August 1, 1976, in Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh, India, R.P. Singh seeks inspirations from masses , nature , culture(s) , landscape and world intellectual traditions . His father, Dr. Rajendra Bahadur Singh, was a freelance writer focusing on comparative religions, spirituality, political thought, and Indian culture, which likely influenced R.P. Singh's early exposure to literature and intellectual pursuits.

R.P.Singh's literary journey began during his high school years, where he started writing and publishing . He later pursued higher education at the University of Lucknow, eventually joining the Department of English and Modern European Languages as a faculty member. Currently, he serves as a Professor of English at the University of Lucknow where he not only imparts knowledge but also continues to hone his craft as a writer.

His writing spans various genres, including drama, poetry, and children's literature and criticism. Singh is particularly acclaimed for his contributions to Indian English drama, where he has showcased his mastery in inventing composite plots, compelling narratives, crafting nuanced characters, and delivering meaningful narratives. His commitment to literature, coupled with his innovative approach to teaching, has left an indelible mark on the Indian literary landscape . For his innovation in teaching he has received Shikshak Shri Samman (2015) from the Government of Uttar Pradesh. and ACCLAIM award from the University of Lucknow twice.
