Hello all. The Bureaucrats are considering the possibility of using this template (that is, the name "Template:Rename") for a newly-created template to be used by users requesting renames on Wikipedia:Changing username. I believe it would be no problem, since this is a redirect to {{move}}. However, if anyone would disagree with this, please let us know at Wikipedia talk:Changing username#Username Change Template. restored[edit]

I have restored this template as it is being used, and a speedy deletion had already been declined. There was a previous deletion discussion at Wikipedia:Templates_for_deletion/Log/Deleted/February_2005#Template:Rename.

In the restore message, I said "template was in use", however it is quite possible that it wasn't in use at the time of deletion, as the only two usages were added after the deletion:

Category:Argentine legal professionals
File:VeneerGraft.JPG

I have handled both of those, however I think we need to do something with this "rename" template as it is such a common & intuitive name that new users will use it, even if the template doesnt exist as in the two examples above. By the time of deletion it has not been used. The previous speedy tagging was declined correctly, true but it was later tagged T3 correctly since it was not used for some time. I don't mind it being restored but it probably should be turned into a redirect as the 2005 TFD suggests. It's redundant to {{move}}, isn't it? Regards So Why 23:03, 30 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
