Recommend page move

[edit]

This template appears to have a name that is difficult or impossible to type. I recommend moving it to "Template:IPA double slash". – Jonesey95 (talk) 00:53, 8 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Why "difficult or impossible"? It's all ASCII. Nardog (talk) 01:44, 8 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I guess I meant more that its name is currently a subpage of Template:IPA, but it does not appear to be meant as a subpage but as its own template. Using a slash character in a page name is always tricky and can cause undesirable side effects. The actual name of this template subpage is "/", which is a subpage of "Template:IPA", and "/" is not really a good name for a page. Also, there's an extra space before the first "/" in some renderings. See the address of its /doc page, for example: "Template:IPA ///doc". It's a bit of a mess. Moving it to "Template:IPA double slash" is probably a good idea for multiple reasons, including technical ones. – Jonesey95 (talk) 13:21, 8 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Do you have a specific problem it (or a similarly named template) has caused? Unless you do, I see no reason to move it. It's easy to type and remember. Nardog (talk) 13:31, 8 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I support the move. WP:TPN does as well. Using a slash in a page name should be a last resort when the slash is part of the name. Gonnym (talk) 16:24, 8 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough, moved. Nardog (talk) 16:51, 9 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
