Categorization

[edit]
The following feature was added by Adam Cuerden and JPxG in November 2022.

All articles with this template are added to Category:Signpost drafts. Subcategories are added based on the following parameter values:

Subcategorization works like this:

Ready-for-copyedit Copyedit-done Final-approval Category
(any) (any) (any) Signpost drafts
(any) (any) old Signpost drafts, inactive
no no no Signpost drafts, not ready for copyedit
yes no no Signpost drafts, ready for copyedit
yes yes no Signpost drafts, ready for final check
yes yes yes Signpost drafts, ready for publication

Extra parameters

[edit]

The following feature is only intended for writers to keep a personal record of their own submissions, and is not part of the publishing process.

On user pages, for those who like to keep a personal record of their own submissions, two extra parameters are supported. Technically they work in other namespaces too, but are unlikely to be of any use there.

  • |status= – Set to accepted, declined, published, rejected, submitted.
  • |location= – The final location in which the draft has been published. For example, |location=2019-03-31/In focus will link to Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/2019-03-31/In focus.

Setting |status= to accepted, declined, published, and rejected will suppress the checklist, newsroom links and deadlines from displaying.

For example

{{Signpost draft
 |title = Title of the piece
 |blurb = Short description of the piece
 |Ready-for-copyedit = yes / no
 |Copyedit-done = yes / no
 |Final-approval = yes / no / old <!--This parameter should only be used by EiC -->
 |status = Published
 |location = 2019-03-31/Humour
}}

Miscellaneous

[edit]

This template is used by the Signpost Publishing Script at User:JPxG/SPS.js, and must comport with that. If you do anything to this template's params or formatting, make sure that it doesn't break SPS!

It's also fed into by User:JPxG/signpost-filetools.js, which generates the piccy part of the template. If the way this template deals with those params are changed, that script also needs to be changed to match it.
