  • Suggesting ALT1 Hook below.--Nvvchar. 16:31, 30 June 2013 (UTC)

There are significant grammatical errors, including in the introductory sentence for the article. I also noted at least one spelling error. Also, some paragraphs, particularly the very dense first paragraph in the history and statistics section, do not have enough citations. The article looks okay otherwise.--¿3family6 contribs 17:34, 14 July 2013 (UTC)

I've c/e the article. --Rosiestep (talk) 14:46, 15 July 2013 (UTC)
Okay, Sourcing and c/e issues addressed. Date checks out, no apparent copy vio errors. Two of the sources for the hook I'm accepting AGF, and a third source for it I can confirm with the Google Books link. The article now looks ready to go.--¿3family6 contribs 16:53, 15 July 2013 (UTC)
  • There are two hooks proposed—original and ALT1—but the review talks about "the hook", so I'm unclear which of the hooks was reviewed and has been approved. Please clarify what is approved and what isn't, so this can be promoted. Thanks! BlueMoonset (talk) 03:36, 17 July 2013 (UTC)
  • Restoring hook for approved ALT1 hook per 3family6's original review, now that it's clear that ALT1 is the only one approved (original hook was just struck). Have commented out image that went with original hook to avoid confusion. BlueMoonset (talk) 02:08, 20 July 2013 (UTC)
  • Pulled out of prep because the "Karnataka" link didn't give me enough of a clue what the article was about. Can the hook be reworked to somehow give more of the flavor of the article topic?
The hook wording that I removed from the queue was:
After a light reading of the article, I suggest the following revised wording:

I attempted to reword the hook when I promoted it because the ALT1 hook was not proper grammar. Without the commas, it would say "that in Karnataka Lingayat movement was led by Basava". I don't even see why Bhakti movement was added to the hook. It seems like it was just extra information that isn't needed for a hook, and it was also spelled incorrectly as "Bhakthi movement". The date of birth and death are both pointless information for a hook. It should have been "the caste system" with a comma after it. SL93 (talk) 04:43, 25 July 2013 (UTC)

  • Should this page be re-transcluded? Also, IMO, Orlady's revised wording hook (... that Basava, a 12th-century leader of Hindus in Karnataka, protested against the caste system and favoured equality among all classes?) is both interesting and it gives "more flavor of the topic". --Rosiestep (talk) 01:49, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
  • Hook ALT1a approved (which I've just labeled for clarity, added "pictured" in the appropriate place just in case the next promoter puts it in a lead slot, and struck all others); agree with Rosiestep's assessment of the hook. Will take care of re-transcluding this so it can be seen by said promoter. BlueMoonset (talk) 02:15, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
