Aula Magna (Central University of Venezuela)

[edit]
The "nubes" of the Aula Magna
The "nubes" of the Aula Magna
  • ... that the 31 acoustic panels on the ceiling of the Central University of Venezuela's Aula Magna were originally meant to be an art installation in its outside corridor? Source: "The initial destination of the clouds was not inside the hall, Calder was working on a structure for outside in the Plaza Cubierta" (UCV website — in Spanish: "Aunque el destino inicial de los platillos no era el interior del Aula (dado a que la obra de este artista estaba dispuesta para la Plaza Cubierta)")
  • Comment: World Heritage site, protected artifact, significant in modern architecture.

  • The article was created four days before nomination, and as of the last edit before nomination, was already very lengthy and well-cited. The article has seen further improvements by Kingsif since then, and there doesn't seem to be any obvious, outstanding issues with the article or the hook selected, which is most certainly an interesting fact about the building's history and design. This seems to be Kingsif's first DYK nomination, so a QPQ isn't necessary. I would stress to future editors that this particular DYK fact be kept with the selected image, as it serves as a great illustration for the subject of the hook. This is some fantastic work, Kingsif!
