I checked for that and didn't see it. At the moment I honestly couldn't tell you which individual leeky means, nor what aspect they consider negative. Aung San Suu Kyi having a lawyer who is in jail I suppose.
Re ALT1, I don't think it's punchy enough. How about "... that the lawyer Ywet Nu Aung gained national attention in Myanmar after representing the family of a toddler who was sexually assaulted"? Gog the Mild (talk) 20:38, 22 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, look good to me. Taung Tan (talk) 21:16, 22 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • ALT2: ... that the lawyer Ywet Nu Aung gained national attention in Myanmar after representing the family of a toddler who was sexually assaulted? Gog the Mild (talk) 21:35, 22 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    • @Taung Tan and Gog the Mild: my apologies, I was out for most of today. Yes, I was talking about the idea that we're airing the fact that a BLP is in jail before they've been convicted of a crime. In my view, ALT2 contravenes SG?gratuitous; the scope of that guideline hasn't really been nailed down, though, so you're welcome to contest that at WT:DYK. Taung Tan, I'm afraid that I can't loosen my view of the rules up due to personal circumstances (other than allowing more time for fixes and process stuff like that), but if you'd like to withdraw to take this off your plate, that's of course fine by me. theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (she/her) 04:10, 23 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Weeell, you're the boss. And no need to apologise for the lack of an instant response, we're all unpaid volunteers here. Do I take this to also be a "no" to ALT2? @Theleekycauldron: Gog the Mild (talk) 10:49, 23 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Gog the Mild: It'd be a "no" from me, but like I said before, I can't really be sure that my interpretation of the guideline is widely held, so I'd encourage you to challenge that at the noticeboard if you disagree. theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (she/her) 01:18, 24 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Taung Tan, apologies, but I am going to step back from this nomination. Being extremely experienced at writing for the main page - I written some 400 blurbs for TFA [1], [2], [3] - and checking others' work for the main page - I schedule TFAs every third month, including this month [4] where I was responsible for checking and copy editing those blurbs I didn't write myself - I had thought that I was well informed on the main page requirements. Apparently not. I am, like you, baffled as to how WP:BLPCRIME can be stretched to cover ALT0 or how ALT2 falls foul of WP:DYK#gen4. This being so, I think you need the advice of a reviewer better acquainted with how DYK interprets the rules. If you are not sure how to reset the nomination for this, I imagine leeky can advise. I am unwatching now. Apologies again for making a mess of this. Gog the Mild (talk) 14:00, 24 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Gog the Mild, you are very natural, and I will remember your help. I will propose another hook. Taung Tan (talk) 18:09, 24 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • ALT3: ... that the lawyer Ywet Nu Aung rose to prominence as a righteous lawyer after taking on legal challenges against powerful Buddhist ultranationalists in their stronghold area of Mandalay? [1] How do you think? theleekycauldron. Taung Tan (talk) 17:45, 25 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    • This appears to present a couple of WP:NPOV and WP:VOICE problems, particularly around "righteous", "powerful", "ultranationalists", and "stronghold". I should also point out, for the record, that I said ALT0 had a BLPCRIME/4a problem, whereas ALT2 had a SG?gratuitous problem (as opposed to 4a/BLPCRIME for both hooks). theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (she/her) 20:44, 25 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Marking this DYK nomination as requiring additional work, until a suitable hook is found. Cielquiparle (talk) 03:45, 28 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Modify - ALT3a: ... that Ywet Nu Aung won people's hearts as a human rights lawyer by taking on legal challenges against Buddhist ultranationalists in their base area of Mandalay?
ALT3 might not be suitable per WP:WTA and WP:NPOV. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 11:39, 5 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Amm I've got no idea now, so please help me out of this hell. Taung Tan (talk) 17:16, 5 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
