Slash vs hyphen in regional names[edit]

15:22, 20 January 2006 Skiasaurus moved North American Federation of Temple Youth-Mid Atlantic Region to North American Federation of Temple Youth / Mid Atlantic Region: A slash separates the specific regions name from the NFTY part, not a hyphen; in other words, NFTY/MAR instead

NFTY's own website is consistent in its use of a hyphen, not a slash. This is seen both on general (nfty-wide) webpages, for example, the region directory and those of the various regions, for example NFTY-PAR and NFTY-MAR. Hyphen also used on URJ event calendar. HarlAm not HarlEm[edit]

Merges[edit]

I have proposed that the Region articles be merged into the main article. IMO, the regions aren't noteable except as constituent parts of the overall organization. Also, neither BBYO, USY, or any other similar groups have individual articles for regions or chapters. - pm_shef 21:52, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It has been brought up on this article's deletion discussion that the sheer amount of information currently present in this article is one user's justification for keeping the article. I would like to know how much of the information, events, and attributes of this Region (as described) are absolutely, completely, 100% unique to this grouping/camp/suborganisation. If any or (as I suspect with no research, minimal interest in the subject, and only mild understanding from skim-reading this and some related articles) most of these are common to several or all Regions of the North American Federation of Temple Youth, they shoud be described in that article, and this article (or section if the merge goes ahead) should describe how this particluar Region is unique (for example specific impacts within the geographic region) and how it's impact relates to the greater organisation (excluding the fact that it is a set geographical area). -- saberwyn 13:17, 22 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
My understand of how a merger of this article would go forward is that we would incorporate that information which is unique and noteable specifically about this Region into the NFTY page. Things like position descriptions and event descriptions that are more or less common across regions would not necessarily be included. The meat of the merged section would be the geographic description of the region, and any unique characteristics it may have. - pm_shef 21:57, 22 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
