It needs to have a paragraph explaining that it makes no difference whatsoever (having them dig up less oil will just let other companies dig up what they don't), and that the company's actions are irrelevant (the problem is with the people that buy the oil burning that oil, not the supplier).

The request to include this point in the article seems to contradict WP:NPOV. While it is possible that this could be the a potential outcome, it is an opinion which could introduce basis into the article. Jurisdicta (talk) 04:51, 29 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

"buyers"[edit]

Concerning the Guardian info "the reduction targets include emissions from its suppliers and buyers", does that include emissions from direct buyers (such as a third-party gas station) only or the end-use of the energy products (such as a private car)? Any source for that? --173.68.165.114 (talk) 23:24, 29 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It makes no difference. It would be just like the british government getting the companies that 'safely' dispose of nuclear waste to sign a piece of paper saying they do it safely - they just dump it in the ocean either way. And hell will freeze over before any human being starts to care enough about the planet Earth to actually give something up - least of all their oh so essential car. --92.24.68.197 (talk) 17:41, 30 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
