Custom song maker concerns

I'm very glad for the new custom song mode, but i have a question about it. How will the mp3 files be put into the Wii version since a computer will not read the Wii Optical Disc? Will the SD Card act as an mp3 storage device?

Also, i heard a rumor of DragonForce's "Operation Ground and Pound" being featured in the game, along with a Herman Li boss battle. Has anyone else heard this? 66.82.9.23 (talk) 16:02, 13 July 2008 (UTC)

That song is awesome! I'm listening to it now. But, no, I haven't heard anything. As for read online, well, I have done some searching but nothing like that has surfaced on the old Google. frogTape: I was here first! (talk) 04:06, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

jimmy hendrix has been confirmed by Harmonix as the final boss battle —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.122.221.111 (talk) 23:25, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

Umm... You do know that this is Activision/Neversoft/Vicarious Visions/Budcat's game, right? Harmonix/EA/MTV games are the devs behind Rock Band. Plus, you should have made a new section for this. frogTape: I was here first! (talk) 04:06, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

New logo unveiled at E3

An updated logo was revealed at Microsoft's E3 press conference today. I've been trying to track it down, but it probably isn't up yet. The new logo hasn't been confirmed as the official one, but odds are, they're going to stick to it. frogTape: I was here first! (talk) 04:00, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

Tool

OK, so after someone put some vandalism that put Stinkfist by Tool and Limb From Limb on Guitar Hero IV, I did some searching and came up with this: [1]. Now at first I thought of it as just a rumor, but with the latest info from the survey on Tool, this is looking more and more true. Include? The one and only:Zanny77 (talk) 17:43, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

What I've heard so far from the surveys was three tracks and a dedicated venue for Tool, but there was no indication on what those three tracks might be. While it might seem safe to assume big hits like Stinkfist and Sober would be in there, there hasn't been any indication of track titles. -161.133.8.248 (talk) 13:44, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

Umm...that's not what I was talking about. These are possible song listings to go along with this survey. I was wondering if we could include the songs mentioned (Vicarious, Parabola, & Schism) and the venur artist into the article, not guessing at "big hits."The one and only:Zanny77 (talk) 21:40, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

Cleanup of Soundtrack

I think someone (I'm willing) should clean up the section..I don't know how to describe it but it feels a little jumbled. I'll sandbox an idea. The one and only:Zanny77 (talk) 21:43, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

Done. Right here:User:Zanny77/Sandbox The one and only:Zanny77 (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 23:25, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

Along with general cleanup, a LOT of the references need to be better filled out than they currently are. Many are just links sandwhiched between "ref" tags. Those need to be properly formatted into "cite web" tags. -- TRTX T / C 12:43, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
Alright. I was kind of in a rush last night...didn't get things perfect. Besides, do you think it has potential? Plus...that "Cite error: Invalid ref tag; no text was provided for refs named" crap is really annoying...how do you fix that? Thanx. The one and only:Zanny77 (talk) 16:55, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
Alright, I'm offically done. Check it. User:Zanny77/Sandbox. I'll get the rest of the article soon if needed. The one and only:Zanny77 (talk) 03:46, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
I think we have enough songs now to just make a table of sorts.--Unknownsage13 (talk) 20:00, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

Also, I think it’s a little odd that all the characters that will be in the game are found in the Soundtrack section. Shouldn’t that information be put somewhere else? Shapeshift1 (talk) 04:36, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

A new section in the article should be created named Characters. And charts (titled Confirmed and Unconfirmed) should be made for the soundtrack. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Accent Aigu (talkcontribs) 20:25, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

Travis Barker confirmed that he will be a playable character. He said this during the E3 conference. That is a pretty reliable source. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Accent Aigu (talkcontribs) 04:00, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

Paramore and Beastie Boys

At the Activision press conference at E3 08 "No Sleep Till Brooklyn" by the Beastie Boys is heard while the players are selecting their characters. And "Misery Business" by Paramore is shown on the screen when they're going through the menu. I think both the songs and bands should be added into the article.--Unknownsage13 (talk) 20:00, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure that the title above "Misery Business" is "Somewhere I Belong"... can anyone make out the third one? It looks like "---- ---- Boy"...? 66.209.135.115 (talk) 01:29, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
Also, according to this gametrailer video, Stranglehold by Ted Nugent was played in the game: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/36733.html That song too may be confirmed Maplejet (talk) 20:23, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

Rock Band Controllers Will Work With Guitar Hero World Tour

At the E3 conference, Brian Bright of Neversoft confirmed that the Rock Band instruments will indeed work with Guitar Hero: World Tour. This comes as a huge surprise to us given that the Guitar Hero: World Tour drums have one more pad than the Rock Band Drums.

Bright explained that when a Rock Band drum set was plugged into the game, the 5 button+1 drum track would be compressed to a 4 button+1 drum track.

There will also be a MIDI plug in on the back of the drum set which will allow players who have other MIDI compatible drums sets to use them with the game, as well as a spot to plug in a second bass pedal.

GA

I think this should go to GA. Any thoughts? Shapiros10 contact meMy work 23:00, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
Because the game's not out yet, it's impossible to be comprehensive; however, if we keep the quality in references and the like up through its release, a GA turnover will be easy. --MASEM 23:05, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
So, wait until a few days after the release? Man, my first GA! Shapiros10 contact meMy work 00:59, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

Linkin Park

Linkin Park was previously in the confirmed section, why have they been removed? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.122.87.237 (talk) 21:39, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Thank you, that line accidently got dropped - they still are confirmed from the Game Informer preview. --MASEM 15:04, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

release date

Hi. Does anyone have a source for why the release date on the page was changed from October 27, 2008 to TBA? Thanks. 70.94.12.57 (talk) 17:03, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

The only source for the date is based on Gamestop's release information. Vendors are not reliable sources for future release dates; we need official word from Activision or a major source. --MASEM 17:36, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

Rumoured Songs And Exclusive Bands

Three songs have been rumoured to be in Guitar Hero World Tour Beastie Boys - No Sleep To Brooklyn, Paramore - Misery Business, Ted Nugent - Stranglehold

Two of these may be true (Paramore and Ted Nugent) because the lead singer of Paramore (Hayley Williams) will be a playable charcter and Ted Nugent may be a boss in the game, not to sure about Beastie Boys.

Also The Eagles And Van Halen are exclusive to Guitar Hero World Tour so don't expect any of them to be in Rock Band 2 (Even though RB2 will be awesome) UltimateSin01 (talk) 18:40, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

Beastie Boys's No Sleep TIL Brooklyn was playing on the menu during the demo on Hot For Teacher. It's probably in Rumors indicate that the song Misery Business showed up on a menu screen during the Hot For Teacher demo. Stranglehod played during another demo. Rumored/leaked list - DO NOT INCLUDE

I have found that someone at Something Awful (duplicated here) has put out a list of songs for GHWT. Since there's no source, do not include these in the article. However, presumably, we can start thinking about the track table is going to be listed. (Also, so that we're on the alert for false lists). --MASEM 01:30, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

Activision has responded saying that list is fake. While many (including me) are skeptical, because that would be the most well done fake set list yet, officially, other than the already confirmed songs, the songs in that list are merely "wishful thinking". —Preceding unsigned comment added by Orcaloverbri9 (talkcontribs) 08:47, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

Surfing with the Alien

Since Surfing with the Alien was released today on a DLC pack for GHIII, it is unlikely that it will be in World Tour. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_songs_in_Guitar_Hero_III:_Legends_of_Rock#Downloadable_songs This should be mentioned in the soundtrack section. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.159.207.219 (talk) 03:56, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

The release date is no longer in question!

The release date is no longer in question!

Activision and Amazon.com have both confirmed the release date is October 27,2008. (Sorry, my last post was one day off!) Gooadg (talk) 04:11, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

In addition to knowing the release date, prices to pre-order Guitar Hero World Tour are available on Amazon.com in conjunction with Activision. Gooadg (talk) 04:14, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

We need a source beyond Amazon or any retailer. --MASEM 04:16, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
Activision (one of the publishers of the game) has confirmed this as well. Gooadg (talk) 04:20, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
I have search the web and news sources and no one has confirmed this date. If you have a link please post it. --MASEM 04:31, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
It states on IGN that the release date is October 26, 2008 On This Page64.178.131.62 (talk) 23:19, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
I just preordered the game for the Wii and the worker at gamestop said that I could pick it up on October 26, 2008. That and Activision said that the release date was October 26, 2008.--23-03-33 (talk) 05:32, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

What happed to the open E string bass note

In the article, it is mentioned that the bass will have a 6th note in the chart to represent the open E. If that is so, why is there only five on the screenshot? Does anyone know why or is this unknown? frogTape: I was here first! (talk) 01:57, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

My reading is that it would appear like the bass drum in the drum line, being a bar across the notes. However, I can't remember where I read that. --MASEM 02:23, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
Okay. That's not what it says, but I'll look it up and try to confirm it. Thanks! frogTape: I was here first! (talk) 03:06, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
A quick Google search found that eurogamer has stated that a horizontal line is what indicates the Open E fret-less note. http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=156347 -frogTape: I was here first! (talk) 03:15, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
If you watch the E3 footage you can see it for yourself, just in case you're curious. Dfsghjkgfhdg (talk) 06:52, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

Crazy Train?

Crazy Train has been added to the list of confirmed songs, but there's no citation for it. All I can tell is that it was supposed to have come from scorehero.com. Can anybody confirm this, or is it just wishful thinking? Orcaloverbri9 (talk) 20:00, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

No. I looked at the link. Not on there at all. I'd take it off but somebody blocked me from editing this page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.63.176.30 (talk) 03:49, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
A source was provided (the one named "ign preview" referenced earlier in the article), but as you said, it isn't in the article. Lightsup55 ( T | C ) 07:53, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

New Soundtrack layout

New soundtrack layout stinks and needs to be reverted. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.122.87.237 (talk) 23:56, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

someone fixed it. Apparently somebody who didn't know what they where doing tried to take off Crazy Train(which is not in the game for all I know) but they took off the whole chart. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.63.176.30 (talk) 03:51, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
Actually, the table was still there, but the table markup code that marked where the table ended was modified so that the table didn't end, which caused it not to show. Plus, the same editor that attempted to remove Crazy Train also had removed 2 other things that were confirmed (which was added back). Lightsup55 ( T | C ) 07:48, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
