Article title[edit]

I have changed the name of this article from "Fresno party shooting" to "2019 Fresno shooting". That is to make it comparable to the other article, 2017 Fresno shooting. Sad that we have to have two such articles. "Fresno party shooting" remains as a redirect to this article. -- MelanieN (talk) 15:41, 20 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Good call. I was concerned that a Google search was bringing up the 2017 article, hence I added a hatnote there. Maybe with the addition of the 2019 date, searches will now bring up this article first. Funcrunch (talk) 15:53, 20 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Google searching right now just brings up news items for me. Searching here at WP for "Fresno shootings" used to redirect to the 2017 article; I converted it to a DAB page. Unless you think we should redirect it directly here for the time being? Would make it easier for readers, but kind of violates WP:NOTNEWS. -- MelanieN (talk) 17:07, 20 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
When I google "Fresno shooting", the info box that comes up on the right side of the Google results page displays the 2017 Fresno shootings article. This (2019) article doesn't appear until the third page of the results for me. But with the hatnote I think folks will be able to find the more recent article easily enough. Oh, I see. That is misleading. Maybe it will age off or correct itself in a day or two. Meanwhile, as you say the hatnote should solve any misunderstanding. -- MelanieN (talk) 17:44, 20 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
