The Mosque shooting.[edit]

I'm sorry but what does this have to do with the deep Life Church shooting? If there is an apparent link, it needs to be asserted with reliable sources. --Τασουλα (talk) 21:35, 8 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think the shooting should go in a section under "Shootings," along with the church shooting as a section, since the article title focuses specifically on the church shooting, and the mosque shooting happened in nearly the exact same area just a day later, but we need to wait a bit more until more info is out about a connection. For now, I recommend keeping it as a new section below or under "Reactions" as a subsection, although as Khazar2 pointed out, that may imply it was "retaliation," which we don't know yet. --Activism1234 21:48, 8 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Τασουλα, if you click on the reliable sources linked in that section, you'll see that the media is linking the two (just look for the footnotes). But in any case, it doesn't take much of an imaginative leap to connect three men firing automatic weapons into a church with three men firing automatic weapons into a mosque one day apart in the same town. All media covering one today seem to mention the other, and vice versa. Khazar2 (talk) 21:58, 8 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I also wondered this. Even if the media is linking them, that needs to be described: that the mosque shooting specifically followed the church shootings, and what connections (if any) have been suggested. The article should likely be renamed to something like "2012 Okene shootings" to encompass both, and I notice the BBC article mentions 36 known dead from the combined attacks. (Which do appear to be connected, the problem again is that the article doesn't mention how/why, it just lumps both events in.) – 2001:db8:: (rfc | diff) 08:50, 9 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed, it needs to be made more clear in the article. I was not disputing that there was a link, just asking for greater clarity. --Τασουλα (talk) 09:18, 9 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Spacing between background and shootings[edit]

Is anyone else's browser displaying many many spaces between the sections "Background" and "Shootings?" --Activism1234 22:18, 8 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No, looks good in mine (Google Chrome). Khazar2 (talk) 22:40, 8 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Same here. Brightgalrs (/braɪtˈɡæl.ərˌɛs/)[1] 03:56, 9 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

More info[edit]

I have to leave for tonight and won't be back tomorrow. Can someone add the following info to the article? Thanks.

Thanks. --Activism1234 23:57, 10 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

On it. Khazar2 (talk) 01:52, 11 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Integrated the second two. I'm usually wary of allafrica.com as a source since they generally repost from other groups that I'm not always familiar with. But we should have more answers in 24 hours and can do a better update then. Khazar2 (talk) 02:00, 11 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Never heard of allafrica since about 2 weeks ago, so I'll be more wary of it in the future. --Activism1234 02:12, 12 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I think they'll do in a pinch still, or for non-controversial stuff. Khazar2 (talk) 02:16, 12 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
