Needs some reference to the ransom of horses demanded before the burning, how "horse valley" came about when they took all of the horses and boots in town and hid them, and the "star" in the square where the burning was ordered (locally described as 'by General Lee').

This might be better off in a separate article on the burning of Chambersburg. This seems too detailed for a general history of the town. I may work on such an article as time allows. Scott Mingus 13:23, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

More detail would be fine!

As a former resident, I'm surprised to see that there is so little detail here! I don't have access to much material now, but I know there is a lot more that could be added, given Chambersburg's place in history.

One area that more info is needed is on the early settlement and the French and Indian War - certainly this info is available at the library or the historical society.

Schools

The new material on schools looks great. I had one concern that one particular school was presented almost as if it was advertising itself in a very negative manner. Could other people look at this section? Smallbones 12:16, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

Economy Section

The new section on schools looks really nice. I think that the economy section is something we need to work on next. I know that there is more to Chambersburg then just farming and Letterkenny. I will do some research and start to work on it in the next few days. By the way, feel free to join the WikiProject Pennsylvania if you want to help out with that project. 1312020Wikicop 00:41, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

    a Pass/Fail:

Significant content is missing from this article. The Geography and Economy sections need a lot of content added. the Government section is just a list of the mayor and city council members. There's too much emphasis on non-notable elementary, middle, and high schools in the 'schools' section. The libraries section contains a single external link with no major content; should probably be combined with 'schools' into an education section. I am not sure exactly what the purpose of the 'publications' section is?!?! Perhaps this should be a 'further reading' section and included near the end of the article? The 'history' section should also be the first section of the article, immediately after the lead. The lead section doesn't really summarize the article; population history doesn't even need to be there (include this under 'demographics'). There's no mention of the culture or cultural attractions of the city whatsoever.

I could go on with more, but this article needs major work before Good article status. I don't even think I would put it at 'B' class; it appears more of a 'start' class article to me.

I would recommend reviewing the information contained at WikiProject Cities for more information on how to better structure a city article. There are also major inconsistencies with the citations (references) used in the article; it would be helpful to review WP:ATT and WP:CITE for information on how to handle references. WP:WIAGA can also help as well. Dr. Cash 06:42, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

As far as a PA article goes, I believe it meets the B criteria, as in my opinion the more vital sections contain a decent amount of information. However, as far as Cities articles go, that project's more vital areas are indeed somewhat lacking; therefore, I concur with the above observations. I have reassessed accordingly. --Bossi (talk ;; contribs) 02:40, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
