Editing[edit]

Autonomy is a very interesting company. Anyone want to help build the page? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.241.149.1 (talk) 17:16, 24 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The whole page reads like an advert, could someone with the necesary knowledge please trim some of the spiel give it some better balance ? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.86.213.196 (talk) 13:10, 14 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Completely agree, reads like a press release. Have trimmed some lists and patched up a little, but the page needs a rewrite 132.185.144.124 (talk) 09:33, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Internal Links[edit]

I removed the internal links to Virage (it was directed to the Aston Martin car), eTalk (it was directed to a Canadian chat show), and Softsound (it redirected back to the Autonomy page). Ray3055 12:58, 3 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Meaning-Based Computing[edit]

I removed this misleading statement: "Unfortunately, this inability to understand information means that other documents that discuss the same idea (i.e. are relevant) but use different words are overlooked. Equally". Enterprise class search product such as ISYS:web or the dtSearch range of products both have a built-in thesaurus and user defined synonym rings, so that relevant documents are found even if the actual word(s) in the search query do not appear in the document (i.e. they are capable of 'concept' searching).Ray3055 (talk) 13:33, 7 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:MainLogo.gif[edit]

Image:MainLogo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Copyrighted text[edit]

It appears that some unregistered users are determined to add huge chunks of text copied verbatim from various pages of the Autonomy website (which, incidentally, portray the company in a very flattering light and thus fail WP:NPOV). Please do not re-add any text which violates copyright in this way as it is unsuitable for use on Wikipedia. Gr1st (talk) 11:40, 31 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

$8.8 BILLION accounting mistake[edit]

This is absolutely amazing and needs better coverage here. HP's statement on this sound like it is accusing the previous management of fraud (almost anyway). This number is in the same ballpark as the Bernard Madoff scandal! Smallbones(smalltalk) 15:03, 21 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have tried to give a bit of context by referring to the incident in 2009 where Paul Morland, an analyst, raised some concerns over accounting policies - the company reacted by banning Daud Khan at JP Morgan Cazenove, Roger Phillips at Merchant Equity Partners and himself from asking questions at results presentations. Deletion of info about accounting charge[edit]

It appears Autonomy staff are deleting this section repeatedly. (I can't PROVE it, but I work there, and I know they are).

Can it be locked for a short time? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.27.210.15 (talk) 18:34, 22 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Name change[edit]

Autonomy Corporation is now HP Autonomy, and there is no existing HP Autonomy Wikipedia page. This page needs a name change and a rewrite - may start some updates. KCA2613 (talk) 19:59, 7 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

References[edit]

A number of the references are no longer present on the internet. 9 and 10, which relate to the company's inception, lead to 404 errors — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.37.37.210 (talk) 15:04, 16 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

After HP, change name?[edit]

Should the name be changed to "Autonomy"? Syced (talk) 08:47, 27 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
