WP:TABLOID in the Aftermath section[edit]

"Breaking of TV sets" - Seriously? What next, the Kardashians taking a dump just because there are articles written in the media about it? This is Wikipedia and we should steer away from such crass tabloid journalism. I repeat, please read WP:NOTNEWS, WP:UNDUE, etc. There is something fishy about the IP editor edit-warring User:58.110.11.114 and I am inclined to open a WP:SPI in case they don't come clean and take part in the discussion here. No comments on the IP, but I believe you should refrain from further reverts on this page, as you are already on WP:3RR even whilst you brought this to talk. Please note that WP:NOTNEWS is for "routine news reports", which this subject and its coverage clearly isn't (nor have you explained its applicability). An India vs. Pakistan final is known to attract up to one billion viewers, and the intensity and emotions of the game are notable and well known. Thus it is only reasonable for readers, if the article encapsulates for them the various reactions and the impact the game had. You have not provided any encyclopedic reason as to why the coverage should be excluded from this article, which is about that game. Mar4d (talk) 09:00, 24 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Such incidents are "routine". For example, look at the reactions in Pakistan after Pakistan lost to India in the 2011 World Cup semifinal and lost to Australia in the 2015 World Cup quarterfinal. Did we add these in 2011 Cricket World Cup Semifinal: India v Pakistan and 2015 Cricket World Cup knockout stage? No. Looks like Pakistani fans did the same every time their team lost in the 2015 World Cup: after their defeat to India and after their defeat to West Indies. Also see the reactions after Pakistan's losses to India last year at the Asia Cup and the World T20. Not just in Pakistan, this kind of reaction is common across the subcontinent whenever their team loses a match on the big stage. It's funny you mention that I have not provided "any encyclopedic reason" for the removal of this non-encyclopedic content. I have lost count of the number of times I used WP:NOTNEWS as an argument in the past 24 hours. Dee03 11:04, 24 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Firstly, @Dee03: don't waste your time with an SPI because i am no such SP. I have become attached to this article simply because i don't like the childishly nationalistic way you're behaving trying to cover-up the embarassing behaviour of your fellow nationals. @Mar4d: I totally agree with your reasoning above and i have myself been engaged in discussion with Dee03 here on his talk page. Also, to respond to Dee03's argument that previous matches didn't make mention of Pakistani behaviour, i say: just because they didn't mention it doesn't mean they had no right to mention it. If you'd like to mention it, and it is reliably cited NEWS, then be my guest -- i have no dog in this fight. Finally, since it appears that there is a 2 to 1 majority in favour of including the edit then i will revert the information. @Dee03, if you wish to remove the content again you will need to gather support or convince us with more solid and sensical arguments.58.110.11.114 (talk) 23:19, 24 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Replied on my talk page. This time, do click on the links I have provided and stop wasting everybody's time. Please? Dee03 06:26, 25 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Dee03: Since i have joined the discussion here, please no longer add comments on your talk page; leave them here for all to see. Thankyou for educating me about WP:NOTNEWS! What would i do without such helpful guidance as "click on the WP:NOTNEWS link"! I had no idea how to click on a link before your aid! You quote that an article shouldn't have "routine news reporting". If you think that being charged for sedition and being remanded in custody, for supporting an opposing team, is "routine news reporting" then you clearly lack WP:COMPETENCE. If you think that committing suicide, because your team lost, is "routine news reporting" then you clearly lack WP:COMPETENCE. As it currently stands, you are the only one opposing these edits. Nor do i think i am name-calling when you are, as expressed on your user page, so clearly a lover of the Indian national cricket team. Therefore, i don't think it is too difficult for others to see that you lack objectivity in this argument and would like to show your beloved team and its supporters in a less embarrassing light.58.110.11.114 (talk) 23:15, 25 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
In India sedition charges for supporting Pakistan are common, my dear friend, as you see here: [1]. By the way the sedition charges for this match have been dropped. Suicides due to sports matches, well, are routine too: [2] [3] [4] [5]. "clearly a lover of the Indian national cricket team" - Once again you are displaying your inability to comprehend English (which isn't surprising). My userpage says I "support" the Indian cricket team; it doesn't say I am a its "lover" (lover? lolwut!?). I'll keep the sedition charges sentence for now (because I can't spend any more time on your endless rants), and remove other non-notable, non-encyclopedic, routine events. By the way, Eid Mubarak! Hope you're having a good one ;) Dee03 08:12, 26 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Dee03: You haven't heard of the word lover and its meaning? Look it up, you may be surprised to have learnt a new English word. Of course you simply "support" the Indian cricket team! That's what they all say. Eid Mubarak?! I'm not Muslim.58.110.11.114 (talk) 23:10, 26 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
