Dates[edit]

Okay, the first point of order is to manage the dates. Regarding the Weather Prediction Center, not all of the dates line up with what the actual Wikipedia articles (for those storms which have an article). For example, February 11–17, 2014 North American winter storm lists a date that I cannot easily attach to any single one of the storm events listed by the WPC. How can we manage this problem? For such storms, just use dates given if we are unable to dig up any sources, because those dates were clearly stated on the Weather Channel and other news headlines, even if those sources aren't online anymore. As for the dating issues, we should be able to find other reliable sources out there that contain the dates we need. The WPC isn't the only agency that keeps track of winter storms, so with enough effort, we should be able to get something. LightandDark2000 (talk) 00:48, 20 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I notice that the NCDC storm events database as been updated to include events upto the end of December. That should help define dates of systems and add content to this article.Jason Rees (talk) 03:11, 31 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Project[edit]

Prior to about midnight on March 23, I was unable to make any significant revisions to many articles, with many of my edits limited to smaller tasks. I am disappointed to see that zero editors have made any contributions to the article at all (apart from me). If no one is even willing to make a single minor edit over nearly four days, maybe we should just ditch this project and forget about it. Even I, being the only editor, am losing interest because it appears that no one else even cares. Dustin talk 15:30, 23 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I wasn't trying to seem impatient or anything if it appeared that way to anyone who read the my prior message (just above). I suppose that I should probably give the article some more time. Don't mind that comment; I was getting a bit ahead of myself and was suffering a bit from a lack of encouragement because no one else was making edits. When I give it thought, I suspect that the reason is at least partly because I have refrained from making links from other articles to this one as well as from adding categories; I just wanted to get a few sections partially done first. I found several sources from the WFO in Norman here:[1]. The forecasters in Norman I have found to be very reliable when it comes to hosting summaries and data on their site, especially in recent years. I know that not all of the storms impacted Oklahoma, but there is a good compilation of a few here, and I haven't found any comparable lists from other WFOs (at least, not yet). Major changes[edit]

I am considering moving this article to the title 2013–14 North American winter to bring it inline with its successor, 2014–15 North American winter. This will involve redoing the formatting and applying general improvements to the article. I hope for this article to eventually receive an overhaul, so any help would be appreciated. More major changes?[edit]

I'm noticing that the article is still lacking some detail so as a result, I think it may be best if this article goes under more major changes akin to the changes that occurred in September that Dustin V. S. (talk · contribs) made. But instead of major formatting changes, I think the focus on this set of changes will be the search for more major winter weather events in the season, as there are quite a few. I've technically started this transition about a month ago with the creation of the Early January 2014 nor'easter article regarding the winter storm that occurred right at the start of 2014. Also, I'm considering making an article based on the winter storm/blizzard that occurred in the middle of January that dropped up to a foot of snow around the New York City area. The title I am going for right now for the article will probably be January 2014 United States blizzard, as this storm mainly seemed to impact the United States.

If anyone would like to contribute to this project-sort-of-thing, comment down below and feel free to include what storms would be necessary for inclusion in the article. --MarioProtIV (talk) 21:03, 27 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

 Done - EDIT (4/9/16): I have finished the project. The following have been added:
  • January 20–22 Northeast blizzard.
  • Thanksgiving storm complex in November (Nov 25-28)
  • Late February Midwest snowstorm/severe weather system (Feb 19-21).
  • Early March storm complex (Feb 28-Mar 3).
  • Snow/ice storm from Feb 5-6.
  • Southern U.S ice storm from early March (Mar 6-7)
  • Early April Central Midwest storm complex (Apr 2-4)
  • Even though this occurred outside the official boundaries of winter, it was still major enough to gain media attention.
  • Mother's Day High Plains snowstorm (May 10-12)
