Request for help

[edit]

I think I need some help with writing this. My articles keep getting deleted and each time for different reasons and I do not understand why. I am the authorized person from the organization called Women In Distress and I am trying to create a page for the organization. This information is about domestic violence victims and the services that are for them in our community. How do you suggest I proceed with this. This information is not spam or advertisment, and I do not understand the tone part of it as well. Please help!!WID7269 (talk) 15:43, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'd be glad to help. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and is not a personal website. As such, the article needs to be written from a third-person view, be referenced and focus on verifiable and notable aspects of the organization. Generally speaking, using the word "our" and the phrase "please contact us" are not appropriate. I will rewrite the article from a neutral point of view and we can proceed from there. I ask, in the mean time, that you find third party references to verify your organization's notability. Thanks! (EhJJ)TALK 15:45, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, great. Thanks. I am not sure what you mean find third party references to verfiy my organization. On Women of Tomorrow Mentor and Scholarship Program page, Women in Distress is listed on there. I can also find recent media articles that have our agency in them, if that is what you mean. —Preceding unsigned comment added by WID7269 (talkcontribs) 15:49, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much for your help. WID7269 (talk) 16:02, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, media articles (and other third-party references) is exactly what is needed to provide verifiability and support notability. (EhJJ)TALK 00:01, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Holding for CBS Video

[edit]

Moving this content from the article page for now:

In March 2011, Erica Herman was interviewed about WID by CBS Miami for a program about domestic violence for Women's History Month. [1]

Roxcy Bolton

[edit]

Hi Sarah, following your recent edit of the History and Services section it now says "Bolton's personal artifacts relating to Women in Distress and her activism are housed in the Florida Women's Hall of Fame." But I think that's not right. Her artefacts are in the Museum of Florida History. She was inducted into the Women's Hall of Fame in the 1980s and I'm pretty sure it's not inside the museum. Also, the source at the museum doesn't say that her artefacts are WID-related. Perhaps the original text I had there should be moved to the Bolton article. I admit I was just trying to work the museum source you gave me into the text, because it mentions her in relation to WID, but her museum collection is a bit tangential. What do you think? I must have misunderstood your context, sorry about that. I think it's best to move that content to an article specifically about her and not have any of it in the WiD article. SarahStierch (talk) 21:17, 17 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It's ok. I agree. Thanks, I've done that. Rubywine . talk 22:07, 17 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Question?

[edit]

WID supports same-sex domestic violence victims through the EAGLE (Ending Abuse of Gays and Lesbians Everywhere…even at home) program?

I was told by the WID phone line that the EAGLE name was changed and they don't help LGBT people? WID has a lot of misinformation within the community network of Broward county. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.229.83.187 (talk) 21:01, 15 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
