Decimal places[edit]

Jakec, is there really any need for the levels of "accuracy" provided in this article, e.g. "6866.6757 gallons per minute"? It would make for better prose and would probably be appropriate if this was to read something like "approximately 6870 gallons per minute".... Same for the average pHs, they ought to be represented to the same number of decimal places as the range values, e.g. instead of "5.9 to 6.9, with an average of 6.2875" you could use "5.9 to 6.9, with an average of 6.3" The Rambling Man (talk) 06:46, 30 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Jakec any chance you can fix these before it hits the main page please? The Rambling Man (talk) 18:21, 30 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
If it helps, I can use the {{Undue precision}} to tag all the relevant issues, please let me know. The Rambling Man (talk) 18:24, 30 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@The Rambling Man: I've reduced the precision down to two decimal places. I suppose I could go down to one if you want, but I personally think two is sufficient. --Jakob (talk) aka Jakec 18:25, 30 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I think for the items where you're talking about thousands of gallons per minute (or whatever), you don't need any decimal places, in other situations it's always best to try to stick to a consistent presentation, so one decimal place throughout or two, or whatever, but the same for the same sort of items. Again I'm happy to mark these issues with the template I've suggested, or fix them myself, whichever you prefer. The Rambling Man (talk) 18:56, 30 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
