Nonvenomous[edit]

Heterodon nasicus is not nonvenomous. It has a venom, which is of no significance for most people. But there have been clinically relevant accidents. --2A02:2455:7E2:DC00:5C43:B2E9:EDD3:78A1 (talk) 13:21, 17 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

As per sources, it is not considered a snake venom because it is not produced by proper venom glands, but rather is a mildly irritating saliva. --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 19:16, 18 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Northern range limit in Canada[edit]

Southwestern Manitoba must be correct. Although Behler and King (1979) mention northwestern Manitoba as being part of the northern limit of the range of this species, this does seem a bit too cold for them. And indeed, a range map for the species included in the same book shows southwestern Manitoba. Wright and Wright (1957) also mention southwestern Manitoba as being at the northern limit of their range. --Jwinius (talk) 12:00, 6 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
