Can you consecrate a secular building? Don't you mean bless, open, dedicate or something else? Twospoonfuls (ειπέ) 07:58, 3 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

In fact doesn't "poświęcenia" from the papal address also mean dedicate as well as consecrate or sacrifice. I'm relying on google translate, of course. Twospoonfuls (ειπέ) 08:18, 3 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, you are probably right. I am not an expert in Catholic dogma. Is "bless" a better description of the process? - Darwinek (talk) 11:17, 3 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I claim no expertise, but I think that formal blessings are a specific rite in the Catholic Church. Unless the sources state that this is what was being done then it would be safer to say it was a dedication. Twospoonfuls (ειπέ) 13:04, 3 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wooden chair

[edit]

There is a curious wooden chair in a very prominent position in UW library. Fixed on its side, there is a plate about John Paul II. What is the story behind it? Why is it there? --PeterTrompeter (talk) 07:53, 11 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It's the same chair John Paul II sat in when he blessed the building in 1999. It stayed in the library as a souvenir of this event. Zu Ouis (talk) 19:09, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
