Requested move 28 January 2022[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: Not moved. I should also note that if Willis Towers Watson is to be renamed, this should be discussed in a separate move discussion at Talk:Willis Towers Watson. (non-admin closure) Colin M (talk) 22:00, 10 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

WTWWTW (disambiguation)Willis Towers Watson is now just WTW. Georgia guy (talk) 00:21, 28 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Georgia guy: That may now be the common name for the company, but you're going to have people opposing by default unless there's a way to demonstrate it is also the primary topic among the other WTW subjects.--Yaksar (let's chat) 14:24, 28 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
User:Yaksar, what dis-ambiguation suffix can be added to WTW?? Georgia guy (talk) 14:49, 28 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    I'd probably go for insurance broker.--Yaksar (let's chat) 16:21, 28 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. No primary topic. -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:43, 2 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Necrothesp, how do you support Willis Towers Watson (which is now simply WTW) be titled?? Georgia guy (talk) 14:56, 2 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    • WTW (company) would be the obvious. Although for the moment it should be left as is. -- Necrothesp (talk) 17:01, 2 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Is it still called Willis Towers Watson according to its official page?? Georgia guy (talk) 17:14, 2 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No. But doesn't matter if it is or not per WP:OFFICIALNAME. -- Necrothesp (talk) 15:15, 3 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
User:Necrothesp, your argument appears to imply that "Willis Towers Watson" is still the common name even if no longer official. Georgia guy (talk) 15:36, 3 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Being official does not make it the common name. I have no real opinion one way or the other (and this is not the issue in this RM anyway). But editors needs to get away from the misguided notion that the official name is always the name we should use. Never has been the case. -- Necrothesp (talk) 15:50, 3 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose per Necrothesp. No PTOPIC for this abbreviation.  — Amakuru (talk) 15:42, 8 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
