Clarification Requests
[edit]I'm attempting some copy edits of this list in order to help it on its way to FL status.
As such, I'm moving through one character at a time and cleaning up the prose in the section. However, since I am not intimately familiar with the movie series, I am unsure how to clear up some ambiguities which are present in the list.
- Instance One: "in attacking a pair of drunk motorists on a bridge in a pick-up truck." This means that the two drunken men were in the pick-up truck, not the Sawyers', right?
- Instance Two: "Chop Top and Leatherface kill the two drivers..." Does this mean there were two trucks or both men were in the same truck. If the latter is two, it should probably read "the two men."
- Instance Three: "When Chop Top and brother Drayton (Jim Siedow) discover that Vanita is still alive after finding her in the family's home in an abandoned amusement park called the Texas Battle Land, which Chop Top bought using government cheques..." "the family's home" refers to the Sawyer's home, correct? The first time I read this, I thought they went to Vanita's home and found her there.
Thank you for your assistance. Webmaster961 (talk) 16:06, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
The first one is correct, it is referring to the two drunken men in the pickup, and this leads to the second instance, which should read "the two men". The last instance is also correct, because it's referring to the Sawyer's home. Hope this helps, and thanks. --EclipseSSD (talk) 18:25, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
Rewrite and Citation
[edit]This article is poorly written and developed and has a vast majority of its information being unsourced. Some sections are poorly written and are excessively detailed while others are unsourced. This article needs to be rewritten and given proper citations for its information with the unsourced material either given proper citations or removed entirely. There is so much work that is needed to be done in order for this article to meet Wikipiedia's guidelines and standards of a well developed and properly sourced article.--Paleface Jack (talk) 20:34, 24 August 2016 (UTC)

Citations needed
[edit]I removed about 20 'citations needed' notes, apparently all added at the same time in 2016. This article could use more references, but we don't need one every two sentences.Czolgolz (talk) 00:20, 19 October 2018 (UTC)
Possible rewrites
[edit]Looking over this article, its quite a mess. I do believe it should be rewritten completely and maybe split into separate articles (Members of the Sawyer family could possibly have their own articles if enough sources exist. considering how messy it is, the current structure should only be brief with the character entries and given proper citations. - One thing I think could really help is if we made it so every minor character did not have their own section.★Trekker (talk) 20:46, 15 February 2023 (UTC)
- What constitutes a minor character though? I mean some characters only appear in one film, but have fairly major roles in said film. 2600:1700:7558:1890:81DB:3EC8:FC03:855F (talk) 20:49, 17 February 2023 (UTC)
- In what in depth sources cover them.★Trekker (talk) 21:17, 17 February 2023 (UTC)
- If rewrites are still ongoing and someone is willing to give the article a refresh, I've found "he goes defunct" in place of what I assume was meant to be "He deserted". And I'm also not convinced that Hoyt in the 2003-2006 films is actually supposed to be Leatherface's brother rather than his uncle. The only evidence is that he calls Luda Mae "Mama", but that could just be a Southern custom of referring that way to the house matron, especially when her son is around.
