Sodium and potassium inhibitors of Urease?
[edit]According to my professor in biochemistry and physiology of plants, potassium and sodium are NOT inhibitors of urease. Makes sense, since those
- If I may finish your sentence, "since those are in relatively high concentration in the body...beyond ubiquitous". Still, it is possible that the enzyme does not normally function outside of a cell structure, out of which K and Na are pumped. In the example of Helicobacter Pylori, we would be talking about the stomach, which is acidic. In other words, it might be appropriate to call the enzyme acid-activated than potassium- or sodium-inhibited. 142.59.238.254 (talk) 06:12, 17 November 2011 (UTC)
Where does Urease come from?
[edit]What I really needed to know is where it comes from and what organisms use it. This article just says some plants, yeasts and bactiriea. That is almost useless information. What plants? What bacteria? What yeasts? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.51.38.100 (talk) 10:42, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
first isolated from Jack Bean
[edit]I may be mistaken, but I recall that urease was first isolated from Jack Bean, Canavalia ensiformis. There is some historical value in retaining this association. —Preceding unsigned comment added by AJim (talk • contribs) 04:33, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
Urease mechanism
[edit]Bertini, I. (2007). Biological inorganic chemistry (p. 186). Sausalito, Calif.: University Science Books. Farhanasadmohamed (talk) 00:13, 7 December 2015 (UTC)
- @Farhanasadmohamed:. Tips for Wikipedia chem-art: no words, uniform font (sans serif), no "a" and "b", the two mechanisms should be separate figures to ensure versatility. Wikipedia would probably only show one mechanism. Tips on citing: Bertini is the editor, we want the chapter title and that author. Also ISBN and DOI. --Smokefoot (talk) 00:36, 7 December 2015 (UTC)
