Avaitors

[edit]

The vast majority of these men were Aviators who were shot down. I just added Doug Hegdahl to the list - a non- aviator. How many if any were NOn-aviators ? Wfoj3 (talk) 17:40, 12 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Nick Rowe and Rocky Versace were not. There were some SF guys but it was mostly aviators. MyIP19216811 (talk) 21:10, 18 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Should Dieter Dengler be added to the list of notables

[edit]

In addition to the movies he has a Navy Cross and is one of the few who managed to escape. He was captured in Laos, and I believe held there but he was held by NVA. MyIP19216811 (talk) 21:12, 18 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

He was held by the Pathet Lao. This whole page seems to focus entirely on prisoners of the PAVN/VC and omits prisoners in Cambodia and Laos which is unsurprising as almost no-one ever returned from there to tell their stories. Mztourist (talk) 03:40, 19 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It's a little unclear but what I read was that he was captured by the Pathet Lao but turned over to the NVA. Also the title of the page is "During" and the title of the section is "Vietnam-Era" so I would think he should be included but I will defer to the community. No, it was Pathet Lao, if he was held by the PAVN its doubtful he would have been able to escape. I know what the page is titled, but the page says nothing about Pathet Lao prisoners. Mztourist (talk) 07:23, 20 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps some other contributors will weigh in. MyIP19216811 (talk) 13:15, 14 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
