Navy terminology[edit]

U.S. Navy ships, by tradition, are always referred to as "she" and not "it." The term "it" is demeaning since ships, by tradition, were considered by their crews to have a human nature.

Considering a ship as "it" is an attempt at revisionist history, and not something that should be tolerated in Wikipedia. Wikited 22:24, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
