removal of content explained[edit]

The article was too closely resembling a replacement website for the department (complete with faculty directory), rather than a neutrally written article that explains why the department is worthy of an article ("it exists" or "other departments have articles" is not a valid reason why this should have one). 1st for computer sciences graduate studies in the state of Oregon is top of a rather short list. I've cleaned it up significantly: only faculty with significant notability should be mentioned, and probably more should be trimmed. Any additional content should derive from third party sources, not merely rehash content on affiliated websites. Not every computer science department in every college is notable, and this article seems to describe (in too much detail), the mundane functions of any similar department. If independent notability cannot be established, this may need to be reduced considerably and redirected to University of Oregon.--Animalparty-- (talk) 04:48, 17 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
