Dynamo Kyiv/Kiev
[edit]The team was known as Dynamo Kiev when it was part of the soviet league. Shouldn't that name be reflected in pre independence wiki articles? Nothappycamping (talk) 23:45, 29 August 2023 (UTC)
- Yep, probably. Can you source that? – PeeJay 11:31, 30 August 2023 (UTC)

- The Republic of Ireland was known as The Irish Free State when they took part in qualifying for the 1934 world cup. It would be strange to change the name to Ireland. Nothappycamping (talk) 11:47, 30 August 2023 (UTC)
- Yeah, I agree with you that we should use contemporary names, I just wanted to see some evidence that Dynamo Kiev was the contemporary name in English language sources. – PeeJay 13:02, 30 August 2023 (UTC)
- @PeeJay will I dig out more or is that enough? Newspapers needed too? Nothappycamping (talk) 13:03, 30 August 2023 (UTC)
- Nah, looks sufficient to me. – PeeJay 13:07, 30 August 2023 (UTC)
- @PeeJay this woukd require every article that mentions the team's name to be changed. Seems like a massive job. Can't imagine it can be decided by us two. Is there anything else that should be done? Nothappycamping (talk) 13:11, 30 August 2023 (UTC)
- Perhaps raise it at WT:FOOTY to gain a wider consensus. – PeeJay 13:15, 30 August 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks, just did it. Nothappycamping (talk) 13:21, 30 August 2023 (UTC)

West Ham vs Czarni
[edit]This pairing was never drawn. Czarni, the losing finalist of the Polish cup, were not entered into the competition due to being too low level (3rd) and Legia Warsaw was proposed instead, which UEFA rejected.
Contemporary sources listing the draw such as [1] do not make mention of Czarni, explicitly noting that West Ham was given a bye as the title holders. 31.11.129.175 (talk) 09:09, 1 January 2024 (UTC)
