Existence[edit]

Has anyone found proof that this route actually existed? The two big sources on this, Chris Bessert and Charles Sarjeant, both concede either on their sites or in discussions that signs may have never gone up, especially since in the short time that it was shown on maps, the west end was ambiguous depending on the source.
