Nickname for the new franchise?
[edit]When the heck is the new franchise in Tulsa going to announce the team's new nickname? Mr. Brain (talk) 05:03, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
- Well, the season doesn't start until May so they have plenty of time.—NMajdan•talk 14:30, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
- When the Atlanta expansion franchise was founded, the fans in Atlanta were able to vote on the nickname and the team colors. These were announced in January, so I imagine a similar routine for Tulsa. Nickv1025 (talk) 20:30, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
Page move
[edit]I rolled back the changes made recently where an editor copied the content from this article to Tulsa Shock. The fact is, the new name for the team has not yet been announced so this title is still the most accurate. Wikipedia is not a crystal ball. When the official name is announced, we can take action then.—NMajdan•talk 03:49, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
- Understandable. It's basically decided that the team will be called the Shock, but I understand wiki rules. I regret to inform you that I have updated numerous pages with this information however. Luckily they are infrequently viewed pages (since most are about the 2010 WNBA season, which isn't even close to beginning) so they should be fine with the Tulsa Shock name. If you disagree, you can check my recent contribs and undo all of them if you so desire. Nickv1025 (talk) 03:53, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
- You wrote, "It's basically decided that the team will be called the Shock". Do you have a source for this? The news reports are that the team has just launched a fan poll to make the final decision. Do you have information to the contrary? I'm particularly concerned about edits such as the one you made here at Detroit Shock adding text to assert that the name change has been made, when, officially, it has not.--Arxiloxos (talk) 04:27, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
- No, I do not have an official source, but I know how the WNBA league office is run and I know how decisions are made. If you are concerned about certain edits, revert them. I have no desire to corrupt wikipedia with false information, as you can see from my numerous quality WNBA-related contributions. Nickv1025 (talk) 18:07, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
