Lists, lists and more lists?

[edit]

This entire article seems to be merely list after list after list. There is little historical context, indeed little encyclopedia content at all. Certainly we do not need the extensive list of Metro Manila buses. What about the buses in the other 90% of the country? --Bruce Hall (talk) 04:00, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

So, I have now gone ahead and removed all the lists and instead added links to other articles in Wikipedia. --Bruce Hall (talk) 04:49, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Delete list of all cars

[edit]

The list of cars at the end of this article is largely unsourced and not in keeping with WP:INDISCRIMINATE which says in part "To provide encyclopedic value, data should be put in context with explanations referenced to independent sources" I think that we need to (1) get a proper WP:third party source, (2) based on that source mention only the most historically important cars, and (3) do so in prose format, not a list. There is little reason for an encyclopedia article to mention a car that has only sold maybe a score of units. Other websites, including other wikis, can and should have such a comprehensive list that we can then link to (e.g. a PhilCarsWiki). Comments? If there are none, then I will assume WP:Consensus per WP:Silence and delete most of the list. --Iloilo Wanderer (talk) 04:43, 25 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

User:GreenPH deleted a long list of cars but an anonymous user put it back in. What is the consensus? Should the long, indiscriminate list of cars stay or go? If there is no discussion, I will take the WP:Silence as a consensus and revert the reversion. --Iloilo Wanderer (talk) 05:31, 13 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I would like to see the list removed. It is not practical to list every car sold in the Philippines and it makes the article cluttered for no good reason. Other countries don't have these long lists.  Stepho  talk  09:14, 13 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
As seen above, the Cars of the Philippines article was merged in this page according to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Cars of the Philippines I suggest we make another article and rewrite the Cars of the Philippines so that it do not redirects here. GreenPH (talk) 00:52, 16 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I support an article discussing cars in the Philippines and I think that User:GreenPH is right that it should be rewritten. It needs to meet the standards of an encyclopedia. Specifically it would need context and summarization. In my opinion, this WP:indiscriminate list of cars does not meet that standard. So far, I haven't seen anyone support the continued inclusion of the list of cars in the Philippines. Have we reached a WP:consensus to remove the list of cars? --Iloilo Wanderer (talk) 03:26, 17 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I think that we reached a consensus to remove the long list of cars. I went ahead and did that. I have preserved the former section with all its internal links hidden below in case we decide to restore part or all of it. --Iloilo Wanderer (talk) 09:25, 28 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I took the liberty of deleting the hidden list to keep the talk page shorter. If we want it back then we can look in the history of the article.  Stepho  talk  00:29, 29 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed merge with Colorum

[edit]

I don't believe there is enough sources on this term to warrant a separate article. If so, an article on Land transportation in the Philippines (currently a redirect) would be more appropriate. FallingGravity (talk) 06:52, 17 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Someone is trying to keep the list of Philippine car companies

[edit]

Is the list genuine? I am trying to remove and re-write the list, but someone is trying to revert it.

No section on Buses?

[edit]

Where is the section on public utility buses? --Miles2north (talk) 04:58, 16 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If have appropriate knowledge and references, please feel free to add it.  Stepho  talk  12:16, 16 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

New page for Automobile Industry

[edit]

So I have thinking about it recently where we could make a page about the country's auto indunstry. Sure it's small compared to our ASEAN neighbors, but it's got a lot of story and used to be big back in the days Vietnam and Indonesia has their own page for the industry. I'm working for it's content as we speak, just need a green light to do so. It's main contents will be (in no particular order) History, Sales/Statistics, Characteristics (What do Filipino consumers want in a car), Local to active and defunct manufacturers, and manufacturing plants (or even the car culture there). I have seen the discussion on "The Cars of the Philippines" where the page got deleted because of how every car sold in the country is in there, but I promise you that it will not be like that. I will just add those aformentioned contents to add for the page. It is kind of sad to me that the country is being left out and give somehow the local readers facts about the small industry.

Thank you for reading this, It'll be apprecieted to give some opinions from you guys. Renz203 (talk) 05:51, 26 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The best way to get a green light for a new article is to build it through the process described at Wikipedia:Articles for creation, where it can be reviewed and advised upon. CMD (talk) 06:24, 26 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
