Tributes

[edit]

I can't see as tributes to Krafwerk, Can, etc... can be considered inadvertent: just consider many Trans Am song titles: Cologne, C-Sick, etc... so I removed the adjective.

Carlo.

AMG

[edit]

This article seems to be nearly identical to the All Music Guide entry.

  • Re: AMG - I noticed that instantly when I first visited this article, & did my best to undo it. I think the person who added the AMG info just wanted to quickly provide an overview of the band's history, without realizing plagiarism was being committed; I've seen this happen a lot on Wikipedia. Then again, AMG bios have always been provided as stock information packets at amazon.com, iTunes, insound.com, etc., so it's a pretty common/accepted practice. AMG is usually trustworthy, but its bio on Trans Am is laughably inaccurate (e.g., the vastly different "post-rock" bands it lumps together), so it was a no-brainer for me to cull it down. I may post one of the live photos I took of the band in '99 sometime, if only to illustrate that they are indeed a "rock" band, not a synthpop conflagration. Someone should fix this...

[edit]

The phrase

The band started as a side project (Phil also played with Oberlin College friends in "Golden"

is a bit weird, considering that Trans Am PREDATES Golden...how can a band be "started as a side project" when the band listed as the 'main project' didn't exist yet?

Proposed deletion

[edit]

oh come on, it's a badly written article but they aren't any less unknown than a million other bands that have wikipedia articles. they have 5 albums on metacritic, which means they have dozens of published reviews in publications metacritic has deemed worthy enough to include. sure they may not have a new york times piece on them but that's not the standard required of bands, nor should it be -98.169.111.159 (talk) 08:03, 26 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

What is this?

[edit]

"cerebrally robotic, usually instrumental, semi-danceable, minimalistic format"

Does that mean anything? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.196.241.73 (talk) 21:23, 29 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
