Its not a "weighted sum"

Its not a "weighted sum" because you get one-base for every bag you touch. If you hit a single you get 1-base, for a double, you get 2-bases, for a triple you get 3-bases and for a homer you get 4-bases. That's not weighted, its one for one. The little formula they show with the Total Bases definition just looks scary but its really is just what it says. The (unweighted) sum of singles, doubles, triples, and home runs is 'hits'. The weighted sum is 'total bases'. Mindmatrix 19:40, 23 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
