Critical acclaim

[edit]

Is there any means of conveying in this article the critical acclaim that this song has achieved? For many, myself included, this is the perfect romantic pop song, unsurpassed since publication. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thegn (talkcontribs) 22:57, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What style?

[edit]

Scott Walker

[edit]

He's not mentioned among the versions of this song. Here's the audio recording: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFBve-KxZrE — Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.196.29.149 (talk) 20:08, 28 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Carmen McRae version

[edit]

Carmen McRae also did an amazing version of this song. I don't know which album it is, but I heard her perform live once and it was spectacular. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 61.115.201.89 (talk) 14:17, 11 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

'Best Song' Oscar nomination

[edit]

The line "Springfield received an Oscar nomination for her film version," is incorrect. The Best Song award goes to the songwriters --in this case, Burt Bacharach and Hal David. It does not go to a performer and it isn't for a specific "version" of the song. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Academy_Award_for_Best_Original_Song I've deleted this language. Well, the songwriters did win the nomination, so it should be in the body of the article. I have put it back and rephrased it. (I cannot believe it lost to Talk to the Animals in "Doctor Dolittle") Richard-of-Earth (talk) 22:08, 3 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Dionne Warwick

[edit]

In my mind hers is the definitive version, yet it's not mentioned in this article. Unhandyandy (talk) 15:15, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I was able to find the song as sung by Warwick. I was not able to find a citation that her rendition is culturally significant. See WP:CULTURALREFS and WP:SONGCOVER. Can you provide such a citation? Richard-of-Earth (talk) 20:08, 18 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reference 5

[edit]

Statement Ref #5 needs to be edited clarifying what movie is being referred to. 70.22.173.10 (talk) 01:26, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
