Punkabilly vs. Punk Pop

Over the last week I've seen TLE's genre change from punkabilly, to punk pop and now back to punkabilly. I've just done a quick search and the bands genre is mentioned as punkabilly on the bands profile at many well known sites, including mtv.com, launch.yahoo.com and vh1.com. So that no one changes it in the future, it does seem that punkabilly is the right choice. Feel free to debate this, but I don't think it should a problem, just pointing it out. Thankyou

Both could be listed. Dwnsjane2 02:07, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

The Runaway Boys / The Longnecks

Although they are technically The Living End, I dont think they should be merged, due to not specifically playing TLE songs all the time. Runaway Boys was a coverband that played some orginal material, and the Longnecks played some original material and some choice covers. I dont think they should be merged. Thats my 2 cents.

The Longnecks should be merged into this article, they preety much are the living end. However The Runaway Boys has potential as an article and isnt part of the living end, and should not be merged into it. --Dan027 12:36, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

this has been going on long enough, ill do the merge tomorrow night with The Longnecks, and try and make some improvements to The Runaway Boys. cheers all --Dan027 14:50, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

Melbourne

Is there any objections to mentioning that the band are Melbourne based in the opening paragraph? Other bands such as Cat Empire are listed such, and American bands generally get a State mention. Satchfan 08:54, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

Couldn't hurt. It's not like it's detracting from the article, or false, anyway. --Dayn 13:49, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

Demsey

Should Travis Demsey's reasons for leaving the band be mentioned? As of now, it merely says that The Living End recorded their new album with Andy Strachan, with no explanation. Demsey left the band to spend more time with his family, if I'm not mistaken.

Sure if you can find some sources there is no harm in adding this. also please sign your comments with the 3 tides --Dan027 14:52, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

Deleted "tragic" from car accident

On the scale of car accidents, let's be reasonable. "Tragic" sounded like he died. I think "car accident" is suffice, people get the idea. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.7.166.168 (talk) 11:42, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

It's been flying around various places. The Herald Sun here in Victoria mentioned it last week and triple j has started talking about it. --Sophie j 10:16, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

Rising Sun

The TLE websites has announced a 2007 release (probably not an ordinary single, but a radio-only single with video). The Cold Chisel song "Rising Sun" being covered, for a multi-artist tribute album. Implications: Something to be added to Singles list. However, I do not know how to categorize it as of yet. 58.167.61.91 07:03, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

Personally, I would wait until that album is released before adding it, but if it's 100% confirmed with a verifiable source, you can add it. I would add it to The Living End song list down the bottom, under "Other Releases", like the other similar ones there. --Dane ~nya 07:54, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

Playboyrich

I think he has removed the majority of the chart positions. Can someone inquire further as to what the hell has happened? 60.229.168.101 03:51, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

Oh well, I recovered and improved it. But it needs boldening, and names need to be re-linked. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 203.51.109.249 (talk) 03:56, 9 March 2007 (UTC).

Confrontation POS/SS

I have spotted a clash in 'facts'.

Someone has placed the Prisoner of Society/Second Solution EP on the singles chart as #1, while the POS/SS page states it as #4.

Can someone look into this to find out the true ARIA position of the single? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 143.238.249.243 (talk) 09:29, 22 June 2006 (UTC)

Surely one of you have the answer. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.229.141.251 (talk) 01:23, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

Okay, after researching. the only sources I found was Answers.com, some fan-based biography, and http://www.amo.org.au/releases.asp?p=10&keyword=&genre=&state=&begins_with=S&label=&released_in=&section=releases. The first two sources state #4, but we must remember (and it is pretty obvious) that both these sources took their info directly off wikipedia, so no help there, just reading the same quarrel in information (By the way, 1# is not stated as it evidently was written before the mix-up was made). The latter source I provided is some sort of online shop, and thus is not much of a source, BUT it is the ONLY source because of the previously explained reasons. More research will be needed, but the source stated #1; thus, as of yet, the EP was #1 on the ARIA singles chart. The official TLE website has it as Number 1 as well — Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.229.141.251 (talk) 01:52, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
OzChart website has put the single at 4. It charts reveal it's many sales as being due to it's longevity on the charts, not from an initial breakthrough of success. It seems it never was at #1. We should reconsider this, and the position of the UK release. 60.229.221.213 03:52, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
  1. 4! Said by the manager herself. But Uk is still not known. Nevertheless, we have to convert all number 1's of the double single to number 4's.
Second Solution/Prisoner Of Society - Living End - First week (04/01/98): 59 -- 53 43 45 47 39 32 35 29 31 20 19 15 12 11 08 05 05 06 04 04 04 04 04 07 07 07 07 10 11 14 14 20 29 31 32 34 42 37 39 41 39 31 37 47 40 -- -- 50 55 48 54 -- 49 56 (final week 24/01/99)
Hope this answers your question. :) Orderinchaos 19:59, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

Singles

The new singles format is a goodn idea, but some notes need to be added to that chart. 6 of those songs were radio only releases, and hence need to be marked in some way, so thay are not mistaken as unsuccessful releases. From Here On In, though charting on the triple j hottest 100 of 1997, was released on radio in 1996. "Prisoner of Society" should be Prisoner of Society/Second Solution; they both reached #1 position as a duo, but they were separate on triple j. It should be noted that they were a double A-side, but be treated separately, due to triple j. Second Solution should also recieve the 1# honour. They were also 1997 releases, not 1998 releases, exept the triple j release of Second Solution, which could be said in a note.

Carry Me Home

Origin of the name

I don't really know where this would go (or even really if it's valid, but seriously, what are the chances?), but it should be mentioned that their name came from a song by The Jesus and Mary Chain off of Psychocandy. Twin Human Highway Flares 04:50, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

In any case you would need a reference for it. The phrase "the living end" has been in common use at least since the 60's and it appears in a song from the late 70's by Dave Edmunds called Girls Talk, so you might just as well say it comes from that song, unless you have an actual reference from the band that makes that statement. SilentC 05:03, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Actually, I'm pretty sure the name comes from neither song, rather, from Bill Haley's 1956 film, Rock Around the Clock (film). At the end the curtains close to show the words "The End." They then re-open a little to reveal the word "Living" in the middle with a question mark. I am sure that Chris Cheney spoke about this in an interview- possibly with Triple J? Can anyone help me out here??? Sjepro 19:08, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

Modern Artillery

OK, I have fixed every single thing that calls the third album "MODERN ARTillery". This is not what the album is called. It is called "Modern ARTillery". Even the official The Living End Website calls the album "Modern ARTillery" (see here: http://www.thelivingend.com.au/onlinestore/products.php?cat=7), with only capitals on the ART.

However, Wikipedia naming conventions (see here) state that album titles are not to be given stylised titles on pages. Redirects have been put in to Modern Artillery (album). Even though "Modern ARTillery" is the correct title, Wikipedia guidelines state that it should be called "Modern Artillery".

Triple J Hottest 100 dates

The band were in Triple J's Hottest 100 between 1997 and 2007, however, the Hottest 100 played in 2007 is called "Hottest 100 2006" (since it's the hottest 100 of the previous year). So the band were in the Hottest 100, 1996 (broadcast 1997) to Hottest 100, 2006 (broadcast 2007). Can we communicate this in a slightly more elegant - but none-the-less clear - fashion that I have just done?

(129.206.198.150 (talk) 10:22, 26 January 2008 (UTC))

I don't think the year it was played is a huge issue, its still the hottest 100 of the year it was voted for, the year and date it was played should be mentioned in the main article of each hottest 100. --Dan027 (talk) 01:22, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

genre

I changed the musical genre to 'alternative rock' as this is what they refer to themselves as on their myspace page. I thought htis would be more accurate and encompassing of all their music than anything else. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 119.11.106.119 (talk) 12:21, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

Chris Cheney's 2006 departure from the band

Instead of the unreferenced crap that's there now "2007 saw Chris Cheney isolated from his band mates trying to write the follow up to "State of Emergency" he was disappointed with the results so he took up Yoga, spent time painting and being around his baby daughter whilst taking a break from music for the first time in 10 years." I think it should be totally re-written, it's ended up being a pretty major part of the band's direction, here's a massive article on it all. kiac (talk) 14:17, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

"White Noise"

Perhaps someone more familiar with wikipedia could help me out. I added today that "White Noise" was mixed at Silent Sound Studios, in Atlanta, Georgia. Problem is I have no direct reference other than first hand knowledge. If this is inadmissible, I guess it should be deleted. Perhaps someone could look into it. Thanks! 66.64.239.254 (talk) 01:51, 10 August 2008 (UTC)iocaine0351

Was it reverted or something? If it was, that would be because of Wikipedia's policy on Original Research. I'm sure there would be references out there, there has been a heap of articles on them recently and in the past, and a lot of interviews. It's just a matter of someone getting around to finding a reference and adding it. I'm thinking of fixing the page up, like i did with the discography, just going to wait until the edits slow down so i don't spend half my time removing silly additions (not saying yours is :)). kiac (talk) 10:14, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
