The article reads

In mathematics, tangle theory is knot theory done inside a 3-ball, with the ends of the strings firmly glued down.

Shouldn't that be

In mathematics, tangle theory is knot theory done inside a 3-ball, with the ends of the strings firmly glued down to the boundary of the ball.

Yes. But the whole sentence is rather unsatisfactory. It isn't knot theory done in a 3-ball in a precise sense, since knot theory is defined to be something else! A rewrite is needed. --C S (Talk) 15:31, 13 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Name[edit]

The article should be moved to tangle (knot theory) or something like that. There's many chances to link to tangle, but I think most people would not think to link to tangle theory. There's also a misleading comment in the article that I will ponder on and make more precise later --C S 23:57, 11 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

On second thought, tangle (mathematics) is much better. Less knot-centric and there's plenty of precedent on Wikipedia to use that. --C S (Talk) 15:31, 13 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
