Premiere location etc.[edit]

Back in the 1950s, Grove's Dictionary 5th edition claimed, I think, that the premiere of this symphony was given (uniquely among Myaskovsky's symphonies) in the United States. No information on premiere location given in present sources (though I'm not sure if Ginzburg was the conductor if the premiere was indeed in the US, so this may be a case of conflicting claims of fact, rather?) (I don't have Grove's 7 to hand.) Schissel | Sound the Note! 14:30, 18 February 2010 (UTC) (according to Google Books apparently Hakobian claims the premiere was given in a closed performance by Ginzburg on Nov. 15 1934 in Moscow by Ginzburg, however. Grove 5 may have been written at a time when this information was not available to the authors, at one guess, perhaps because- again at a guess- Mya 13 was still under a cloud, so the date of the Western premiere was used instead? I don't know. End edit.)[reply]
