Untitled[edit]
I just got a female sylvester cat. Did sylvester ever have a girl friend and what was her name. We are having trouble picking one out.
Sylvester is my hero. He never, ever gives up.
- At least one cartoon shows Sylvestor's family-Mrs. Sylvestor and Sylvestor Jr. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 134.53.145.170 (talk) 18:38, August 23, 2007 (UTC)
Did you notice?[edit]
Nobody ever fed that cat, no wonder he always want to eat Tweety Bird...
Another little secret... If he have no other choice,Sylvester would reveal his true idenity- Undercover Operative, who can leave James Bond wa-a-a-y behind - with felloff jaw... He just too stereotype loser,to be who he looks like... he more looks like super- spy, who not wery good playing role of some fool.Plus,he never gives it up,he twin with cat on 311 marine squadron badge, and have detective expirience - just think about it...6tert
Sufferin' Succotash?[edit]
"Sylvester's trademark exclamation is "Sufferin’ succotash!", which is said to be a minced oath/euphemism of "Suffering Savior" "
-- I'm not sure about this claim; the exclamation is unlikely to mean anything in particular, other than being an expression of frustration / amusement / excitement. Succotash is a vegetable dish; see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Succotash . Kostikrus (talk) 11:30, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
- But that's what a minced oath is, a nonsense phrase said in frustration as a substitute for an actually offensive sexual, scatalogkcal or perceived blasphemous phrase. oknazevad (talk) 13:25, 15 January 2017 (UTC)
DVD[edit]
Has anyone ever seen a DVD of Looney Tunes cartoons?--andreasegde (talk) 12:09, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
OK, I found it. --andreasegde (talk) 12:10, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
- FWIW, there are several more such Looney Tunes DVDs — see The Looney Tunes Golden Collection — and so far there are five out right now, with a sixth and final DVD coming out later this fall. After that, there will apparently be more Looney Tunes DVDs released, just under a different series. — Cinemaniac (talk • contribs) 17:56, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
Judy Canova Show reference[edit]
I added a line in the article about Blanc doing a character named Sylvester in The Judy Canova Show using the Sylvester voice. This appearance predates the cat's first appearance in the cartoons. My source for the information: a rebroadcast of the September 7, 1943 episode of The Judy Canova Show, as heard on XM Radio's Old Time Radio channel August 13, 2008. I don't know the proper way to include that citation in the article, so I've put the information here and hope that one of you can help out. Rreini (talk) 21:10, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
- Kudos! Nice work! :) — Cinemaniac (talk • contribs) 23:36, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
Origins - Kricfalusi[edit]
Kricfalusi's comments should be removed. He has absolutely no proof, only his own word, and we don't or shouldn't care about his (or anyone else's) opinions. 76.64.153.71 (talk) 18:21, 31 December 2012 (UTC)

Sylvester (Looney Tunes) → Sylvester the Cat – Sylvester is not only in Looney Tunes, but also in Merrie Melodies; the subject of article is often referred to as "Sylvester the Cat"; moreover a name without disamb. is better Ioannes Pragensis (talk) 06:42, 26 April 2016 (UTC)
- Support. Common names should be more useful for searches. Dimadick (talk) 08:07, 26 April 2016 (UTC)

- 22:03, 21 July 2005 Tregoweth moved page Sylvester the cat to Sylvester (Looney Tunes) — so after 10 years, we're coming back home, with a capital Cat. wbm1058 (talk) 01:41, 3 May 2016 (UTC)

Recent changes to first sentence on the lead[edit]
TONE-TONE59 has edited the first sentence of the lead to reflect that Sylvester the Cat can also be referred to as Sylvester. I have reverted (as has Binksternet) as I think that this reads rather awkwardly, and is superfluous given that we refer to him in that way throughout the rest of the article - it's self-evident. I'd invite them to explain why they think this is an improvement, and would also welcome others' views. Best GirthSummit (blether) 20:43, 18 March 2020 (UTC)
I think it is redundant. Any person and character with "Sylvester" as the first name can be referred as simply "Sylvester" for short. Dimadick (talk) 21:34, 18 March 2020 (UTC)
Jeff Bergman voicing Sylvester in 1993?[edit]
I've done my research, and Jeff Bergman has not reportedly voiced Sylvester for anything that premiered in between 1991 and 1997. Brian K. Tyler (talk) 17:36, 28 November 2021 (UTC)
