Incorrect title
[edit]The 'Communities and regions of Belgium' remained in one article even though provinces were separated, after discussion. The current content of the newly created 'Subdivisions of Belgium' copies a lare part of forementioned article, but the title cannot cover communities: people are no subdivisions. — SomeHuman 12 Oct2006 05:03 (UTC)
- Notwithstanding the validity of Stevenfruitsmaak's comment in the 'redirect' section, in case one would have a separate article that would encompass (at most: give an overview of) all the articles on the communities, regions, provinces (which only exist in some regions), the three kinds of arrondissements, municipalities, districts (which only exist in municipalities with more than 100,000 inhabitants, police zones, etc. that exist within the territory of Belgium, then the title of this article should not mention 'subdivisions', mainly for these reasons:
- Because some of these entities, when all are put together, do not constitute the whole Belgian territory;
- Because some of these entities do not clearly fall under the national authority in a way common to many other countries for entities by that name.
- Because communities are essentially people (who live in institutionalized geographical circumscriptions) and calling people 'subdivisions' is rather disrespectful.
- The for all cases very accurate and regarding communities more neutral term and title of such article should be:
- Subnational entities of Belgium
- By the way, the term 'district' (which also exists in a Belgian context) should better not be used as a replacement for 'arrondissement' – see my arguments in the "Arrondissement" and "Municipality" on Project Belgium's talk page.
