1955 accident report

[edit]

@FFM784: Hi! In regards to this edit:

The idea I had behind that is that eventually the link would be removed if/when someone wrote an article fully about the accident.

Anyhow, I reviewed WP:ELNO but strictly speaking I'm not sure which part specifically addresses this kind of external link (unless what was meant was "Avoid undue weight" although that refers to point of view). Anyhow, I'm happy to leave out the link for now and see if a full article can be written latter. WhisperToMe (talk) 00:38, 1 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

On second thought, I realize the sentence about this was uncited. I just added the 1955 report as a citation. At some later time I'll check Newspapers.com and make clippings that could be used to write a full article or part of an article. WhisperToMe (talk) 00:48, 1 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Its item #13 in the list. "Sites that are only indirectly related to the article's subject: the link should be directly related to the subject of the article." The thinking here is that link should be directly related to the topic of the article, and not indirectly related. In this case the link is only indirectly related because the article is about the city and not the accident itself. The best way to deal with this particular case would be to add something about the accident in this article and then use the report as the citation.FFM784 (talk) 00:58, 1 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It seems that we were writing comments about this at about the same time. Your recent edit looks good to me. Thanks!FFM784 (talk) 01:01, 1 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
