Genre[edit]

Sade's style is not soul music. Soul contains features/characteristics of rhythm & blues and gosepl: call and response, tense vocal sound, according to wikipedia's article on it. However, it is soulful and slower in tempo with smooth jazz elements, which would make it appropriate to leave quiet storm as a genre. Dan56 (talk) 02:04, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This smacks highly of original research, which in inappropriate for Wikipedia. What counts is what reliable, third-party sources call it, and Sade's music is routinely called soul.  Xihr  22:09, 12 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
"Routinely called soul"; I don't know what u base that on, but the reviews for this album support the genres. I explained that in the edit summary. Dan56 (talk) 22:18, 12 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Also, here are some of the many sources that support the group's music as sophist-pop and quiet storm, and that it is "routinely" defined as quiet storm, adult cont., sophisti-pop, etc., some of these are about the album and some about Sade's music in general: Allmusic book, 'sophisti-pop staple known as Sade', Allmusic lists genres in biography, along with every album entry of the group's, 'Sade (of course)' at the bottom, '"quiet storm" R&B group', 'pop-soul'...'quiet storm', 'staple' of quiet storm radio stations, 'queen of "quiet storm" R&B', uses the genre that Sade is known for as a metaphor, 'the band helped to define the quiet storm era', 'signature blend of R&B, jazz and pop, a luxurious combination that defines the quiet storm movement', Rhapsoy's 'about' section on the left hand side notes the genre as 'quiet storm'. Google Sade and quiet storm and its obvious. Whenever something has been written about Sade's music, its noted as smooth, sleek, luxurious, blending jazz pop soul elements, heavy emphasis on mood, which is not soul, maybe neo soul and R&B, but soul music. Barely any of the reviews mention soul as a genre, let alone as an element. Dan56 (talk) 22:46, 12 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You're seriously going to try to back this up with Google search results? Google sade soul and see how many more hits there are than sade "quiet storm". It's 1,940,000 vs. 33,500.  Xihr  00:23, 13 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Youre seriously not going to respond on the links I just gave, or the album's reviews? And hits? The results for Sade and quiet storm are with articles that characterized the band's music as that, while the results for Sade and soul are ambiguous with pages for lyrics to Sade's Bullet Proof Soul and other things not related to their genre. What makes Sade soul to you? black singer, smooth grooves and sound? What? Now, quiet storm is a type of soul music, so why not make a comprimise with that? Dan56 (talk) 00:45, 13 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sade's albums are usually based in quiet storm, but "Soldier of Love" is neither quiet storm nor sophisti-pop. It's closer to the genre's I'd replaced them with which were trip-hop and downtempo. The page for the first single/title track lists it as trip-hop and even rock, for goodness sakes. Do you have something other than your point of view/opinions? Perhaps a source? (WP:V) Dan56 (talk) 16:52, 16 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sade is the most talented female jazz/soulful artist of all time[edit]

With millions of records sold all over the world, the group Sade has undeniable talent. But what most people don't know is that even though this is a group, Sade Adu, the groups vocalist also is responsible for writing all of the groups songs. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ireevesmpls (talkcontribs) 02:40, 5 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I found this information that was added an important part of Soldier for Love album due to some fact that Mr. Revees has that backs up that Sade Adu wrote all the songs and why that is important. Dan56, we will be added some more edits to this article to assist in making it rate unlike its current status.Omni2qt (talk) 02:06, 13 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Needs work[edit]

The head section may need some clarification. It is not 10 years from 2002 (Lovers Live) to 2008. You don't meet for the first time when you re-group. --T71024 (talk) 08:37, 15 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Nichols or Nicholls?[edit]

What are the correct names of the writers credited for "Babyfather" and "Long Hard Road"? What is the source? My CD (US) booklet lists "J.JANES" and "A.NICHOLLS" as writers. "ANDREW NICHOLLS" is also credited for pre production engineering and "JUAN JANES" for guitar. --T71024 (talk) 08:59, 15 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
