Continuous or In Total?[edit]

I was looking at this article, and the site's home page, but I did not find any information about whether this race is 3100 continuous miles or 3100 miles in total - that is to say, does the 3100 miles have to be non-stop (permitting only on-course "pit stops") or can participants leave the course and return later? Since 1985 when the group first began holding races, the focus on the ultramarathon and multiday races has grown from the famous Ultra Trio, three races with staggered starts of 700, 1000 and 1300-mile duration that take place in September, and the spring races, which include the Self-Transcendence 6-Day race and the only annual race of its kind, the Self-Transcendence 10-Day race.


This looks like a cut-and-paste error. Here's a partial top-level parse of the sentence:

  • Since 1985 when the group first began holding races, the focus on the ultramarathon and multiday races has grown
    • from
      • the famous Ultra Trio, three races with staggered starts of 700, 1000 and 1300-mile duration that take place in September,
      • and
      • the spring races, which include
        • the Self-Transcendence 6-Day race
        • and
        • the only annual race of its kind, the Self-Transcendence 10-Day race.

Cut down to its bones to show its structure:

Since 1985 the focus has grown from the Ultra Trio and the spring races.

That says

  1. that all these races and more ("include" implies there are others not mentioned) were held in 1985, but
  2. not what races are currently being held (no "to").

Hey guys, I don't think the 1990 winner is Barry Chuckle. The link leads to a comedy duo. I looked in the history of the page to revert but I can't find it.
