Content Update

I plan on making several revisions to the content of this page over the weekend. I will add more information, correct existing content, and flesh out the history. I am considering adding material related to fares and connecting services, as Wikipedia appears to do so in other metropolitan areas, but I am somewhat hesitant to clutter the page. (San Diego MTS is a mostly integrated system anyway.) I can prepare a network schematic in Illustrator/Photoshop at a later date if demand is strong. Suggestions welcome. -DavDaven 08:25, 1 October 2005 (UTC)

First modern light rail in California?

First modern light rail in California? The Muni Metro article says it added a new light rail line, underneath Market Street, a year before the San Diego Trolley was inaugurated. -- Geo Swan 12:19, 26 November 2005 (UTC)

Not exactly first modern light rail It is true to say that Muni Metro subway opened before the San Diego Trolley. N-Judah was the first line, but only about a third of it was (and is) underground. The rest of the line operated like a turn of the century streetcar line.

BART had already been operating under Market Street for about six years. The rest of N-Judah dates from 1928. So the "wow this is new" factor was largely not there. --Jmohler1970 16:49, 18 January 2006 (UTC)

Monorails?

Why is that even brought up? Unless there is a real agency or company proposing it with real funding and real EIR, it should not be mentioned. The text with monorails should be removed.

Criticism

The first sentence of this section does not seem appropriate. Instead of a criticism, it is a pre-emptive excuse in reply to criticism.

Also, I would like to add that the major thing I know people complain about the trolley (second to the argument that it "doesn't go anywhere I need to go") is that the train service is pretty infrequent. You can literally sit at a station for 10 or more minutes waiting for a train. The second one is that the trains are needlessly slow in areas where they do not cross streets. 71.83.114.58 00:49, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

Picture Update

Anyone have thoughts on updating the pictures attached to this article? I observe that some look older and low quality. Perhaps they were taken with a cell phone camera or early vintage digital camera? One picture shows an older Siemens U2 train pulling into Old Town from Mission valley; however, I don't believe that equipment runs there any longer? Adddtionally, it may be interesting to see a picture with passengers waiting on a platform. --Track Legs (talk) 03:49, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

Line Split

I agree. That's crossed my mind in the past, so this suggestion is an easy response for me. This response obviously pplies to the Orange and Green lines too. --68.107.68.111 (talk) 06:51, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

Millbrooky, I obviously undid your edit of the discussion page. Maybe it was an accident? Discussing the proposed change has merit and should remain. --Track Legs (talk) 04:13, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
I realized this evening that wiki pages have already been created for the Blue, Orange and Green lines. I decied to expand on those with text copied from this article. And I removed the 'split' suggestion b/c it was essentially completed.--Track Legs (talk) 04:13, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

facts

vI have added many fact tags to the article, in hopes to strengthen the article. I personally know many statements to be true on this article, but to make the article the best it can be, many of these claims need to be referenced. If you are interested, please help by researching the claims of this page, thanx, ¦¬ ]. --Cooljuno411 (talk) 22:34, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

Um yeah dude, you could have just added a general reference or citation tag to the top of the article or section, rather than fifty thousand fact tags which make it almost unreadable. 76.216.113.120 (talk) 07:06, 19 November 2008 (UTC)
Well feel free to fill them in.--cooljuno411 07:59, 19 November 2008 (UTC)

Gold Line?

Has anyone ever seen this before? www.geocities.com/goldlinetrolley Anything to it? I signed the guest book and looks like I was the only one. However it looks nice! --jdahlem21 11:59, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

This Is Highly Unlikely As the Balboa park area has a lot of steep hills. The Next proposed rout was not "Gold Line" from City heights to downtown, but rather an extension of the existing Blue Line From old Town To UCSD. However at la mesa's octoberfest in 2003 MTS had A station set up regarding the Mission valley East Extension and they told us that this was one of the "Ideas" however it is not yet a "Proposed" route in order for it to achieve this status SANDAG wold have to come out and preform a geological servery. and determine the fiscal, and ecological impact on the county of San Diego by doing such construction. Not To Mention The Rail Traffic Issues With The "Downtown Loop". It's a good idea, but MTS has already stated multiple times "It's Not Gona Happen Any time soon". The Current UCSD Blue Line Expansion Is Scheduled For Completion in 2014, We'll Se what they Want to Do with the trolley then. --Koman90 (talk) 22:15, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

Hold Off on Deletion

I Koman90 will Herby move/rename the 20 individual trolley station articles to include a sufix of "(San Diego Trolley Station)" To Beter Define Their Categorization an/or subject matter, some of these articles feature some of the system's more famous, and/or historical stations and should not be deleted. I will attempt to obtain more media and flag smaller ones as stubs. I understand Wikipedia is always expanding and because of this we must think of the naming convention BEFORE we create an article --Koman90 (talk) 17:44, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

I'm pleased to announced the renaming of the station articles in compete the stations are now Named with a (San Deigo Trolley Station) and the transit centers are labeled with (MTS Transit Center). my next step to improve the face of the pink line section is to put it in a table similar to the other ones, this will be a longer process the the other ones and i will begin construction of the table for the pink line, to be renamed Special Event line as it is properly called by mts, in my sandbox.--Koman90 (talk) 17:26, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

Fleet Specifications

Additionally, the trolley uses three light-rail vehicle types. To me it seems useful to have a section devoted to those vehicles. Thoughts? Anyone have information on them? I could look myself, but it would take some research. --Track Legs (talk) 03:49, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

I will Cover Fleet Specification Information, i know wher to get it. please contact me on my usertalk page if you have anny questions, i can even get diagrams of the floorplans of all three vehicle models. if no resonce by end of month i will proceed with the fleet specification table. --Koman90 (talk) 02:28, 11 February 2009 (UTC)

The Fleet Specifications Section has now ben added And is Ready for review.--Koman90 (talk) 00:59, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

Koman90; I liked what you added. Sorry for not responding earlier. --Track Legs (talk) 18:17, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

Broken Map on Green Line

Hey, I noticed the map of the green line is messed up cloud someone correct this the code is a little too advanced for me, thaks --Koman90 (Talk) 18:36, 15 December 2009 (UTC)

Never mind, i kind fxed it, if anyone can fix the junctions on the west en of the line it wloud be greatly appreciated--Koman90, A+ (Verify) (talk) 18:52, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

San Diego "Awesome Trolley?"

I highly doubt this is the official name, but with all things California, you just never know (Go UC Santa Cruz Banana Slugs!). That's why I don't want to touch it myself, but just point it out. Looks like vandalism, but I have no proof. --24.3.109.73 18:03, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

I don't know when this was posted, but it is now relavant as MTS won't the American Public Transit System award for "outstanding transit system"--Koman90, A+ (Verify) (talk) 18:55, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

Station Photo Project

I will Be Attempting To Take Photo's of All the SDTI Stations that need better lighting, better camera angle, or a more prominent structure as the photo's subject matter, the only stations I will not be doing are the one's listed below as they are already "Picture Perfect"

  • Santee Town Center
  • America Plaza
  • SDSU Transit Center

I have Yet To decide weather it would be best to get a photo using method #1 photo of the station from a distance, similar to an aerial view, option #2 in the station with the trolley in the station, or option #3 only the station Structure itself, that is why i opened this discussion, I wolud apreciate it if evrone could vote here using the option numbers provided, Thanks --Koman90 (talk) 17:04, 17 October 2009 (UTC)

Check out the Spanish stations articles, most of them have pics, I also took more pics when I ride the green line. I'll upload them to Commons, to use them on the Spanish wiki. --Vrysxy! (talk) 01:49, 15 March 2010 (UTC)

don't bother adding in citation needed tags unless you can be bothered to reference them yourself

Content that is not cited can be removed as it is unverifiable, for example "During certain special events on the weekends, the Green Line may continue from Old Town on the Special Event Service line" is not verifiable, i take the San Deigo trolley to school every day and i never have heard anything about this! Plus The model S70s that operate on the green line cannot operate at any other stations other than the green line, see Avanto S70 Modernization and another-one "Because of the sharing of the track with freight traffic, stations along the southern end are sparsely furnished and do not feature concrete platforms like the rest of the system" this is not a valid statement as all of the stations past Euclid east on the orange line have raised platforms and yet i still see freight cars out past Arnell station with no problems getting the freight trains in and out. I have flagged these statements and if they are not cited within the next month these are all just rumors and not facts. --Koman90 (talk) 17:21, 17 October 2009 (UTC)

This is a year old but I'll mention it for future editors. The Green Line service is extended to the convention center area on Saturday and Sunday during San Diego Comic-Con International in lieu of running the Red Line/Special Event Service as is done on Thursday and Friday during Comic-Con and other events: http://www.sdmts.com/trolley/comiccon.asp -- Hawaiian717 (talk) 18:21, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

Assessment comment

The comment(s) below were originally left at Talk:San Diego Trolley/Comments, and are posted here for posterity. Following several discussions in past years, these subpages are now deprecated. The comments may be irrelevant or outdated; if so, please feel free to remove this section.

Rated low importance for WP:CAL and mid importance for WP:SOCAL, 11 images, 45 citations. Lacks sources. Parts of it poorly written and reads WP:OR. JJ98 (Talk) 03:54, 3 November 2014 (UTC)
The only section that "lacks sources" is parts of the 'History' section, and I'm pretty sure that's because there are sources for those sections, but they are among the non-inline references at the bottom of the article – if I could get my hands on those sources, I'm pretty sure I could add inline citations to the 'History' portion of the article. Can you be more specific in your "parts are poorly written" or "read like original research" critiques? – I'm not sure what either are referring to... --IJBall (talk) 04:04, 3 November 2014 (UTC)
